About this deal

Although the author does a great job of tempering the more serious moments with humor, there are some heavier, sadder themes that might be a trigger for people. But ultimately this is Rachel’s story, and as it unfolds, Keyes deftly draws parallels between her recovery and that of her patients, forcing her to reassess the progress she’s made and to confront painful truths about herself and her past.

As usual Marian brings humour into the dark, the writing as always is touching and moving when it needs to be but hilarious in between. Where Rachel’s Holiday concluded with her estranged boyfriend, Luke Costello, declaring his love for her, here we learn that Rachel and Luke have now been acrimoniously divorced for six years, and have not spoken since. When Marian Keyes announced she had written a sequel to her 1997 smash hit novel, Rachel’s Holiday, social media went into overdrive.Again, Rachel is the much-awaited flow on chapter to Rachel’s Holiday, a smash hit novel that was published in 1998. Are there specific conversations in Again, Rachel that stood out due to their authenticity or depth? This is a very good sequel to Rachel’s Holiday and it was good to recap how all the Walsh sisters have progressed over the years.

Immersed in its narrative, I breezed through the book in just a few sittings, which speaks for itself. I listened to the audio version of the book which is read by the author and the narration was wonderful.

I also laughed so loud, I read out passages to my husband, I was totally and utterly bewitched by the story.

In this one, Rachel is an addiction counsellor, and Keyes had a good time writing the group counselling scenes. This is all then retrofitted to provide the standard romance happy ending where it was all a misunderstanding.
