About this deal

Karen, however, is more unnerved by the obvious signs that an intruder has been in their house moving things about. It puts me off that he consented to Brigid’s sexual advances to protect Karen which by the way, was very sleazy and unjustifiable. For Arthur Dent, who has only just had his house demolished that morning, this seems already to be more than he can cope with.

This book may suit readers who are looking for a quick read with short chapters but I prefer psychological thrillers with more complex characters and want to be surprised by twists so it ultimately fell flat for me. In The Coldest Case: A Black Book Audio Drama, homicide detective Billy Harney sends his new partner, Kate, deep undercover in a notorious Chicago drug ring. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. Despite the fact that a few reviewers before me have remarked that this was predictable, I enjoyed the journey I was taken on with Lapena and her characters of A Stranger in the House. Shari Lapena is the internationally bestselling author of the thrillers The Couple Next Door, A Stranger in the House, An Unwanted Guest, Someone We Know, The End of Her, Not a Happy Family and Everyone Here is Lying which have all been Sunday Times and New York Times bestsellers.Brigid then got things rolling by confessing to Tom the reason why she failed to show up at their meeting place by the river. When Karen Krupp crashes her car into a pole after fleeing an abandoned restaurant in a rough part of town in upstate New York, she's left with a bad concussion and no memory of what happened before her accident. The Krupps’ next-door neighbor Brigid, who is secretly obsessed with Tom, plans on seducing Tom after Karen is arrested. And according to the residents of the Japanese island of Okinawa - the world's longest-living people - finding it is the key to a longer and more fulfilled life. In this book’s case, Karen, our housewife, caught up in an accident and possible murder is the source of the unreliable narration.

Thrillers on IMDb tend to be evaluated by standards appropriate either for Orson Welles or Hitchcock, or for contemporary high-budget endeavors. John confronts Desmond in his parents' house and, reading Dostoyevsky to him, makes him see that his only course is to confess.Whilst it won’t win any prizes it is very readable, just lacking in the critical thrill component of a gripping psychological suspense story! In Stranger in the House, Julie Summers tells the women's story, interviewing over a hundred women who were on the receiving end of demobilisation: the mothers, wives, sisters, who had to deal with an injured, emotionally-damaged relative; those who assumed their fiancés had died only to find them reappearing after they had married another; women who had illegitimate children following a wartime affair as well as those whose steadfast optimism was rewarded with a delightful reunion. Throwing away his law career in favor of alcoholism and reading, Hector paid little attention to his daughter Nicole, unsure if he was even her true father. In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. I thought about what it must have been like to welcome home a man who had been away for years, who had experienced the horrors of war and who was now expected to get on with life, to build a career, to take up with a family he hardly knew any more and to live in a country ravaged by years of war and rationing.

After a vicious fight with Jo, Barney is immobilised and Angela hides him in the attic of her house, where he is shot dead by an intruder. It is a home for UK cinematic oddities, offering everything from exploitation documentaries to B-movies, countercultural curios and obscure classics, If it's weird, British and forgotten, then it's Flipside. This story moves along at a brisk pace and has several very nice twists along the way, but it also has one of those annoying tacked on codas I’ve begun to despise. When Karen wakes up in hospital following the crash, she has no memory of the accident or the whole evening prior to the crash. It's a very competitive business the suspense/mystery thriller market but I believe the author has crafted this perfectly and without a doubt I expect this to be huge in July when it's released. The case against both Karen and Brigid was dismissed by the DA since both accused claimed the other as the murderer and that there was no viable way to convict either one. To complicate matters, a dead body is discovered near the car crash and it looks as though Karen could know something about the murder, and to top it all off, Karen begins to suspect someone has been in their house, moving little things around and going through her things.
