About this deal

A riveting, inspiring memoir of one woman's escape from an extremist religious sect and an extraordinary rise from housewife to shoe designer, to CEO and co-owner of the modeling agency Elite World Group Superstar mystery novelist Grace McCabe needs to unwind after a grueling book tour, and visiting her sister, whom she hasn’t seen in months, seems the perfect solution. But Grace is surprised to find the fastidious Kathleen living in a grungy Washington, D.C., neighborhood. Kathleen, reeling from a bitter divorce and the loss of her son, is saving every penny of her teacher’s salary to hire a hotshot lawyer for a custody battle. He’s determined to keep Grace out of harm’s way, but it’s too late. Her trap has already worked. She has aroused the attention of a brilliant madman, and now nothing may be able to protect her from the murderous lust that drives this killer down a path of ecstasy laced with death. I watched her show on Netflix and the questionable red flag that kept popping up in my head was … “How on earth did this woman go from a very suppressed, low education life to CEO of a major corporation?” And the book answers all of it.

Short Books has established itself as a publisher of first-class, popular non-fiction. The first Short Books publications were a series of compact, informative and entertaining biographies. Since then it has evolved to focus predominantly on ‘mind, body, spirit’ books following on from the success of The Fast Diet (2013) by Dr Michael Mosley and Mimi Spencer. Wu Zetian (624-705 A.D.), the only officially recognized empress regnant of China and a deeply morally grey character. From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a novel that explores the dangerous side of desire, when a mystery writer in search of a little peace and quiet instead finds herself ensnared in the world of a real-life serial killer whose craving for murder stops at nothing . . . and no one. It makes me sad so many women still live this existence- who may also feel imprisoned like she did. I can not imagine the enormity of weight their culture sets on their shoulders. The women are slaves. I hope this book continues to educate the secular world about the ultra religious Jewish world (that’s living among us in the United States today) while educating the Jewish world about the possibilities, opportunities and freedom of the secular world.

Founded by Paul Hamlyn in 1951 with the aim of creating ‘fine books with a common touch’, today Hamlyn publishes highly commercial cookery and lifestyle titles for the widest possible audience, with a focus on household names, mass-market concepts and family-friendly brands. Grace finds out one cherry-blossom-scented night when she comes home to find her sister dead, strangled with the cord of her “special” phone. Suddenly Grace’s life turns into a scene from one of her own books — the horror, the tight-lipped police, the shattered survivor. Only this time the survivor is Grace herself. When you do books like these, there is bound to be overlap with other similar titles, but I felt like Pénélope Bagieu went the extra mile to think about women who might not ordinarily be represented. Some of my favorites were Betty Davis (the singer and wife to Miles Davis - when I Googled her, Google asked me if I meant "Bette Davis," which I found upsetting), the singer who was ahead of her time and vastly underappreciated. There was Agnodice, whose effectiveness in medicine caused the law against women practicing medicine to be revoked in Ancient Greece. And there was Frances Glessner Lee, whose inclusion here delighted me because Vox recently did a video about the forensic dollhouses she built called " The dollhouses of death that changed forensic science." While I found the book interesting and engaging (though parts are very very cringey), I thought it was very poorly edited. I found this glaringly obvious in a number of ways. From Nora Roberts, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Villa and Carolina Moon, comes a classic tale — a searing novel of twisted passion and lethal cunning.

my skin is clear. my gpa is up. spring has come early. i'm hydrated. i have been cured of my nearsightedness. Authenticity and attitude! An incredibly broad nonfiction list, taking in any subject, including but not limited to memoir, health, arts, pop culture, politics, sport, and spiritual. Each Monoray title inspires us through the unique firsthand experience of its author – the only person who could write this book. Philip’s is one of Britain’s best-known map, atlas and reference book publishers. Philip’s is now leading the way with innovative new product for a rapidly evolving market. The synopsis reads: “Nanako Hanada’s life is in crisis. Recently separated from her husband, living in youth hostels and internet cafes, her work is going no better. Book sales at the eccentric Village Vanguard bookshop in Tokyo, which Nanako manages, are dwindling. Fallen out of love in all aspects of her life, Nanako realises how narrow her life has become, with no friends outside of her colleagues, and no hobbies apart from reading and arranging books. Through her poignant memoir, Julia Haart shows readers that it’s the journey rather than the destination that will fulfill us. Written with great intensity and rare candor, Brazen is a story of longing for more and manifesting that vision. While deeply personal, it reveals universal truths about humanity and womanhood. . . . An irresistible read.” —Tommy HilfigerIn fact, as far as the technical aspects of the story go, it's Roberts. If she doesn't do it well, no one does. Agnocide (4th century BCE), a midwife in agent Greece who disguised herself as a man. (I should mention here that she is generally not considered a historical figure.) So book #2 definitely does not work as well as book #1 does. The story-line felt very rushed (the hero declares his love for the heroine before they even make love, proposes marriage after they make love for the first time) and the serial rapist/murderer did not work real well. The two leads had no real chemistry and I was more happy to see the return of Tess and Ben then to spend anytime with the new heroine and hero. We got to know a little bit about Ed in book #1. I found him endearing and weird in that book, and off-putting as anything in this book. No worries, Grace irritated the life out of me too. Ed pretty much falls instantly in love with Grace as soon as he sees her. When he finds out she is his favorite mystery author he is pretty much in heaven. When Grace's sister is found raped and murdered by an unknown assailant, Ed decides no matter what he is going to find the killer. I feel bad writing a bad review, but seriously don’t waste your time. The first 2/3rds is about her life in the Jewish community. Unless you know Hebrew, it was very confusing and overly detailed to the point where it drags on and on but still was okay, I guess.

From the moment Ed saw Grace leaning out the window of his neighbor's house, he was captivated by her. Realizing she was an author whose books he favored only made him want to meet her more. The steady and thorough man with a gentle heart and warrior's eyes recognized her as his future almost immediately, but the discovery of her sister's body, and helping Grace through the loss even as he investigates the crime, has created a tension in him that he can't quell. He knows there is a killer stalking his victims, and he knows Grace would do anything - including put herself in a monster's sights - to stop him. If, however, you're interested in learning about some cool ladies (and are a fan of bright colors), this book is for you! I can see this being a great tool for classrooms and libraries as it inspires further research. The book doesn't even really end, it just sputters out with her finally selling her failed brand that has lost tens of thousands of dollars to a company that will take over production and then that's it. Nothing about the past six years, her TV show or why when you see her on Netflix she acts like a dumb nutcase. No real coming-of-age learning about how she would have done life differently or even any demeaning the religious institution she was part of, because even when she left the religious group she continued to rush home on Sabbath and holidays, get in her 1800s outfits, and act like a practitioner. It's very bizarre. Our imprints each have their own identity and all publish highly successful titles of outstanding quality and content…In line with the Hachette UK policy, Octopus Publishing Group will not comply with any censorship demands when printing its books in other countries including China. There will be no changes to text at the request of Chinese censors and books will not be printed in China where censorship is likely to be required. And, I don't know about you, but a big beefy cop with a beard who lectures people about eating healthy is not my knight in shining armor. Zero attraction factor. Grace approaches Captain Rivera, showing her the card and offering her services for the investigation. Citing help she gave to the NYPD which ended a case they'd worked on for months solved three days after she'd joined them, she offers herself as an asset. After Grace makes a few concise observations, the captain takes her on as a consultant. No offense to her, but as a child testing genius, being super model skinny, model beautiful, charming, self proclaiming high energy, can go off little sleep - definitely helps in all of the challenges thrown her way- which were many!
