It is very true to life, and you can tell this is what Jaqueline Wilson sets out to do in her books. It was partly inspired by Golding's personal theory that folktales about changelings were a way to explain postpartum psychosis in premodern times. I expected, from the premise and the direction the entire novel seemed to be taking, at least the possibility of fairies. My Favourite part of the book is were destiny and mum spend ages lokking for danny kilman so destiny can meet her father.

It has some great things to say about new motherhood and modern relationships, and will probably delight many readers who their thrillers dark with a dash of magic. It has a story that has been featured in other books, portrayed in different ways of course but the same basic plot, yet Wilson has made it unique in its own way. Her mum is a beautiful ex-model, her dad is a world-famous rock star and her little siblings are celebrities!Claudia was one of the few nice adults in the story and it was obvious she really cared about Sunset and her siblings. Summary: A carefully-crafted and uncannily clever tale about a new mother's irrational (or perhaps not so irrational) panic for the safety of her two children. Best points are the depth of the characterizations, the details of Lauren’s postpartum struggle, and the uncertainty throughout the whole thing about whether Lauren is suffering from postpartum psychosis or whether the crazy woman who wants the babies really is fay. It was a big book with a hardcover and some pretty drawings of a beautiful fairy or a princess with a very long, blonde hair and a long dress and a cute crown on her head. Jacqueline is one of the nation’s favourite authors, and her books are loved and cherished by young readers not only in the UK but all over the world.

Since we have Lauren's perspective, we are able to follow along firsthand with what's happening and experience exactly what Lauren sees. As I mentioned before, this isn't as much of a thriller to me as it is a dark literary work inspired by folklore elements. The idea of changelings is closely examined in this work and I loved how many chapters began with little excerpts from various fairy tales focused on that topic. Add to that her fear that someone is out to steal her babies, and it’s not difficult to feel deep empathy with her. In terms of this being a mystery thriller, the story actually takes quite a predictable path, so what you think is happening at the start is exactly what it turns out to be, however, it’s also ambiguous and leaves the reader asking questions.I've been seeing it marketed more towards the thriller genre and although it does have some suspenseful and thriller-like aspects, I'm not sure that's an entirely accurate description. It’s not a myth that I really focus on intentionally so I was assuming that It must be common knowledge, but maybe it is lesser known than I thought! The line between certainty and belief; the ambiguity of what's real and what's not; the murky business of trying to establish the truth; all of these elements make this story eerie and incredibly tense. There are some other themes here, too, including how women struggle with the heavy responsibilities of motherhood and how bonding can so easily turn to an unhealthy anxiety. Sunset, dcéra (bývalého) rockera Dannyho Kilmana ktorého nezaujíma NIČ iné ako stratená sláva a popularita a Suzy, (bývalej) modelky, ktorá by ju najradšej vymenila.
