About this deal

With the GMMK, regardless of size, you get a solid piece of aluminum that feels solid and fairly hefty. She is currently part of the Digital Trends team, and has been using Apple’s smartphone since the original iPhone back in 2007.

But that doesn't mean that it's not compatible with 5-pin switches — you just need to make sure you clip those extra two stems to make them fit. However, the GMMK 2 has some improvements over the GMMK including lower latency, a better build quality, and better RGB backlighting. There are 5-pin switches out there that are meant to be used in printed circuit board (PCB) mounts, which the GMMK does not have.It comes with doubleshot ABS keycaps that are slightly textured and don't pick up any fingerprints or oil. Attention: In this version, neither switches nor Keycaps are included and must be purchased separately! Note that the board is hot-swappable, meaning you can easily choose which switches you want, and the noise will vary depending on which switch you go for. You can dampen some of this sound by adding a layer of foam to the bottom case underneath the PCB and this is a relatively easy task to do. Also, the GMMK has no wireless functionality, so you'll always need to have it plugged in when using it.

The beauty of hot swap keyboards is, you don’t like the switch you are using, pull it out and then insert a new one in. But if you want to remap and program macros and change the RGB lighting and stuff, you'll need a PC since the software is not available for macOS. The GLORIOUS has a hot-swap board, making it a lot more versatile than the Ducky because you can choose and easily swap the switches without soldering.

The GLORIOUS is a wired keyboard, while the Keychron is wireless via Bluetooth and can be paired with up to three different devices.

For those that like to press down hard on their keys as they type, the experience may be a bit harsh as you will feel the switch “bottom out”. However, if you're looking for a very similar keyboard with a better build quality, check out the GLORIOUS GMMK 2. With Keychron, there are several layouts available — K2 for 75%, K6 for 65%, K4 for 96%, and K8 for TKL — so you can pick the one that is right for you. We want to emphasise that it is a custom keyboard which will require some knowledge on how to put it together. While we reviewed the full-size format of the GLORIOUS, it's also available in a compact 60% or TKL layout. The switches chosen by my friend was the gateron black switches, he tried to go cheap on the switches and it was not the best idea. We reviewed the full-size model, but expect most of the review to be valid for all variants, other than dimensions. A kb detecting software would be nice still because the instruction was unclear and we was a bit stuck. It has a fairly low profile, and the front edge is very thin, so some people might not need a wrist rest.

The switches are held securely by the plate and hot swap sockets and there is a solid feel when you press each key down. This means the switches aren't soldered in the PCB, and you can easily take them out with the included switch puller.Using the switches straight from the box will give you a very tactile experience but the you will hear and feel quite a bit of ping and scratchiness coming from the switch. Typing on this board feels very nice, and you can choose your preferred switches thanks to the hot-swappable board. This might have worked out around 120 once I added keycaps and switches, but it is by a long way the best keyboard I have owned, the body is sturdy and has a nice finish, the effects for the lighting are great and the basic software allows you to customise at a per key level and has good presets available also. Glorious brings with the GMMK TKL a modular mechanical keyboard on which switches and of course Keycaps can be exchanged at will.
