Not sure you’ll have another project and don’t want to shell out a lot of money for you project? As you can tell this jig is not as featured filled as the Kreg concealed hinge jig, but for marking hinge cup centers and hinge screw holes this jig will do the basics. The next task is to measure and mark the positions using a pencil of each mounting plate on the inside of the cupboard or unit you are fixing your door to. Your instructions should tell you the distances, from that I think you'll have to make a jig. I've freehanded them before, usually the bit has enough of a spur to get it started but....... its easy for the bit to drift off as well and then your cussing because you tried to take a short cut. Since depth and placement are critical there is one alternative to a cabinet hinge jig: a drill press with proper setup and an edge guide.
Fitting new Concealed Hinges or Replacing Existing
This is what you need to do the job. Align the point on your centre mark and start the drill slowly pushing firmly down. When you see it start to cut the 35mm hole and it's gone in a couple of mm, go to quite a high speed, keeping firm downward pressure and keep the drill straight without leaning one way or another. The mounting plate itself should be positioned so that the vertical line is dead centre to the fixing holes while the horizontal line should be dead centre to the mounting plate itself.

Well, I measured from the cabinet, so it might be one or two mm’s less for the door if it’s a little smaller… This may be a dumb question, but can I use these measurements/template on Ikea products bought in the states? Do they keep the design consistent regardless of standard or metric?
