As each round progresses in the beginning your probability may lower a hair, but once people start taking treasures that line will start dropping at an accelerated rate. You’re going to feel the weight of each individual piece of treasure, and given that the average die roll on a given turn is 4, even with one or two prizes in tow you’re going to need a significantly greater number of turns to get back compared to the dive down. Players begin to understand that sometimes making it back with one or two lower-scoring pieces can be better than that temping level 4. Be careful to make sure you do still get back, but if you can drain the tank it will make it much harder for the other divers to make it back into the submarine from further out. While great for casual play (anyone might win if they are sensible) there isn’t a lot of scope for improving skill or strategy.

The result is a delightful visual presence that will draw in surrounding folk like flies to a light. The last Oink game in my collection, and also the first Oink game that I bought — Deep Sea Adventure. As my little game report has hopefully conveyed, there is a real sense of peril as you play Deep Sea Adventure.Push your luck in Deep Sea Adventure by diving into the depths of the ocean and recovering as many treasures as you can before the oxygen runs out. I don’t think it has a lot of frills, but it’s a fun press-your-luck game with an aesthetic that I’m fond of. Everyone may want to take their time, dive down deep, and get a big prize, but as soon as someone takes anything, the race is on. Green had made it a bit further than the others, so their treasure is a bit more valuable than your's or yellow's. Have fun playing the board game while you imagine you’re an explorer tasting the treasures sinking to the bottom of the mug.

The interesting thing about it is that it plays fairly similarly with large numbers of people because you can move further with more players (since there are more people you can skip over) even though the air runs out faster, as you need fewer turns to go deep into the depths. Importantly, as soon as you pick up a piece of treasure, the sub’s collective oxygen supply begins to diminish.
