David Terry (Bong) / Möbius / Deep Hum - The Moon, Sun 2 June - The Moon Cardiff - Cardiff

SUNDAY 2 JUNE LESSON NO.1 PRESENTS: David Terry - MusicianDavid is best known as the vocalist/guitarist in Newcastle drone-doom/spacerock legends BONG - Band UK, but also makes solo music using accordion, synth and his voice. The results are as deep, droning and immersive as Bong, but with a soothing ambient vibe rather than massive riffs. Elements of dungeon synth, black metal and 1960s mimimalism (eg Pauline Oliveros) in there too. Saw him live last summer and it was immense! His two releases to date on OPAL TAPES, 2018’s ‘Sorrow’ and the recent ‘The White Horse Of The Sun’ (with EYE SPIRIT) total about three and a half hours, so put them in your headphones when you get to work and it’ll take you through to lunch: https://opaltapes.com/album/sorrow and https://opaltapes.com/album/the-white-horse-of-the-sun MöbiusAlso from Newcastle way, Möbius are a duo featuring James Watts and Skylar Gill - both of whom were in Cardiff back in October, playing in their bands Snakes Don't Belong In Alaska and Lovely Wife. As with Dave Terry, the guitar-centred/high volume side of those bands is replaced by hypnotic synth/vocal ambience that rewards close/deep listening. Releases on northeastern DIY labels INVERTED GRIM-MILL and PANARUS: https://invertedgrim-millrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/above-the-clouds-night and https://panurusproductions.bandcamp.com/album/drooping-finger-m-bius Deep HumBased in Bridgend and Cardiff, Deep Hum are a trio who make strange, hard-to-categorise and very cool music using guitar, sitar and various electronics. Prog, Krautrock, spacerock, exotica, minimal synth, whatever you call what James Ferraro did ten or so years ago: if those words spark your interest, check this band out!
