So in a sense it's not very different in tone, it's something that happens in the story, but you're actually playing. However, it might be a different kind of scene, obviously! I think more could have been done at the credits (or earlier) to show that she was ultimately fine, especially when the devs clearly knew this would be a polarising scene anyway.
