About this deal

Memories of Real Poop” was humorous and presumably autobiographical, but at just four pages long it was at best an amusing little epilogue. He begins to notice weird things such as his ears getting pierced over night and being chased by lovestruck girls.

People with problems stop on the street and ask the first person what their "fortune" is, in response to a question. Still, despite the seemingly unavoidable crap (literal in one instance here) that crops up in every short story anthology, this was one of Junji Ito’s better collections. I also love the artfully big letters of sound-words, sprawled across a given panel, for the way they add an onomatopoeic representation of very creepy noises in your mind's ear, as you read along. It's a little like the femme fatale Tomie stories that comprise large book collections, but in this one there's a beautiful boy/ghost leading girls to their doom. Over the next few days, Reishi attempts to get closer to Ryuusuke, but he doesn't feel like having a girlfriend at the moment.I really enjoyed the main character and his crush as they tried piecing together the clues behind the boy at the crossroads (competent horror leads are the best! While I adore Ito, I'm not a huge fan of his linked stories and I found Lovesickness to be one of his weakest volumes to date. r/junjiito is dedicated to legendary award-winning horror mangaka Junji Itō (伊藤潤二) and friends like Kazuo Umezz (楳図かずお), Hideshi Hino (日野日出志), and other horror mangaka. When he was 6 years old, he upset a woman who was playing intersection fortune telling, which caused her to commit suicide.

By the end of the first chapter we learn of Ryusuke’s uncanny connection to the suicides taking place and, more importantly, much of the predictability dissolved away. A stunned Midori stumbles out and he gives chase, only to find her with her throat cut in a suicide attempt. Before Uzumaki, Ito was best known for Tomie, a comic series about a beautiful, teasing and eternally youthful high school girl who inspires her stricken admirers to murder each other in fits of jealous rage. Angry and desperate, Midori tries to play the game, only to run into the real Intersection Bishounen, who tells her to hate Ryuusuke for the rest of her life. Though advertised as a story collection, this book more closely resembles the release of Ito’s adaptation of Frankenstein from late 2018 than the likes of Shiver, Smashed, or Venus in the Blind Spot.People will go to crossroads in the fog and cover their faces, and ask the first passing stranger to answer their questions to find advice and solace in their lives. Acquitted Too Late: Eventually, the townsfolk and Ryusuke's classmates realize that he is not Pretty Boy. Ryuusuke feels horribly guilty about the incident and becomes uneasy when faced with the topic of the game. Especially all the schoolgirl suicides - they all just happen to carry box cutters and they all decide to kill themselves within moments of the beautiful boy telling them a dumb fortune?

Junji Ito’s Lovesickness collection is really more of a graphic novel with some short stories tacked on at the end because the stories that comprise the main story take up about 250 of the 400 pages in this book. She told him that she is in love with a man and is pregnant with his child, but he's married and wants her to get an abortion. Sometimes the feeling builds to some shocking revelation when you turn a page, but soon the shock will be followed by a panel or scene that's almost-hopeful.
