About this deal

With 250 recipes and stunning photographs of the finished goods that are sure to make your mouth water, this recipe book is the definitive guide for anyone looking to improve their baking skills, widen their repertoire, and create delicious baked goods for themselves, their families, and friends. So many different recipes in this book I honestly think it’s the only book I will ever need for baking. This revised and updated book is filled with an introduction on baking at home, the equipment needed, and all the different terminology.

She is well known for her many television appearances, culminating in the BBC1 series Mary's Berry's Ultimate Cakes and Mary Berry at Home .There are a variety recipes from: Classic Cakes, Spiced Cakes, Chocolate Treats, Cupcakes and other small goodies, Celebration Cakes, Special Cakes, Sheet Cakes, Baking for Children, Crackers and Cookies, Fancy Cookies, Tarts and Pastries, Breads, Fruit Loaves, Buns and Scones, Hot Puddings and Pies, Souffles and Meringues, and a whole Chapter just on Cheesecakes! Renowned baking legend Mary Berry, longtime judge of The Great British Baking Show, presents the revised and updated edition of her seminal baking book, featuring 250 recipes including 20 all-new bakes, updated photography, and Americanized measurements. Great guide to so many of the "technical challenges" that Mary Berry has her contestants do on the Great British Baking Show. Number One on my list is the Victoria Sponge - quickly whipped up, the layers sandwiched together with strawberry (or raspberry) jam and either whipped cream or a buttercream frosting and the top simply dusted with powdered sugar. It truly is a baking bible — featuring many recipes, tips and tricks, and loads of information about baking and ingredients.

I am now blaming this book for an increase in weight but the pleasure of being able to present edible and attractive bakes for friends and family's acclaim is worth it. Somehow I think that whoever did the translation thought that perhaps we don't have those here and so they substituted maraschino cherries - absolutely NOT the same thing - as I've found that same substitution in another recipe or two that should contain candied cherries. I've loved Mary Berry for years now and her newly revised baking bible is worthy of a spot in your cook book collection. On the other hand, if you've been putting off exploring the world of true British baking because you aren't comfortable using metrics, then this is a great place to start. I still find this a solid cookbook for someone who loves Bake Off, Mary Berry, and wants to challenge themselves with recipes from one of the great bakers of the modern era.
