About this deal

Furthermore, whilst these segments are set in the 60’s and 70’s, there are also sections of short conversations with his therapist from 2003-2004 which have been included in all italics. It is focusing mostly on his childhood and it would be interesting to have a sequel that talks about his career in the media which would be of great interest to most of his fans. I can appreciate his interest in the natural world as I too had a (somewhat smaller) collection of skulls, birds eggs and the like in my bedroom and saved my money for binoculars for bird watching, but not to the extent of his obsessions. Chris takes a kestrel from its nest, forming an all-consuming friendship which will eventually teach him hard lessons about love and loss. Fingers in the Sparkle Jar: A Memoir is well written and highly original: non-linear, multiple points of view, and rooted in Chris's Asperger's Syndrome condition.

I grew up watching him on THE REALLY WILD SHOW as a kid and continue to watch him on SPRINGWATCH as an adult.

His parents were gracious and tolerant with the way that he saw the world and the way that it saw him, but the way people failed to understand him did intensify the internal conflicts he suffered from. Chris seems remarkably unconcerned by these attacks, but he deserves our support even if he might shrug them off anyway.

Chris continues to remember his difficult childhood, discovers the taste of tadpoles and encounters some bullies. It’s brave because it is a self-portrait of a rather weird kid – not good with people and not a bundle of laughs, it seems.I wish more than anyone, I had full control but, even after living with this type of bipolar (II) which first started in my late teens, I don’t always realise I’m having episodes immediately and it can take someone to ‘point it out’ to me. And so I suppose I’m asking, that you forgive any potential nonsense I may inadvertently type, on what I do appreciate to be a brilliant, serious and sensible blog. Upfalling from his warm cocoon he slowly ambled to the computing machine to make his tumultuous thoughts heard. An introverted, unusual young boy, isolated by his obsessions and a loner at school, Chris Packham only felt at ease in the fields and woods around his suburban home. I am a huge wildlife lover and think Chris Packham is brilliant at what he does on screen and his incredible knowledge of the natural world astounds me.
