About this deal

When mix engineers add a little bass thump to the mix, as many modern producers and engineers often do, the HD 280 Pro handles it beautifully—you hear and feel it, and yet it's never booming. Our goal is to assist music makers in every step, from choosing the right instruments and equipment to understanding how to get the best out of them.

They fit so lightly that one could easily forget that one was wearing them, but they did not stay put all that well whenever I bent down to pick something up off the ground. Plus you'll be safe in the knowledge that the person sitting on the bench next to you won't give you funny looks as you happily listen to the same 3 bar turnaround on repeat for hours on end!All in all these headphones are great for vocal tracking situations where bleed is intolerable and precision absolutely pertinent. This expanded format is an attempt to answer some of the more common questions I get within the text of the review. The head band connection that's made of pastic broke and I had to use electrial tape to fix it, but I guess that says a lot about how much I use them and they still sounds great. However, put on some Bill Evans Trio, close your eyes, and you'll be surprised how convincing the experience of sitting in some smoke-filled jazz club in New York is!

If you want to pulverize the headphones and your eardrums, yes, you can achieve distortion, but not at levels you will ever want to actually listen at.I really don't think burn in is real, but these tended to just open up a little after playing for a few nights at medium level. Stu is determined to help you make sound decisions, and strives to deliver the best and most in depth content on the internet! All in all, 5 star means "very good product" on this site, and this is definitely a very good product.

The Beyerdynamics are far more comfortable and far better for mixing and mastering purposes in my opinion. Didn’t try mixing yet with any of the three but for listening to music (mostly rock, blues and hard rock) I definitely prefer the HD280 pros by miles. The strong clamping force, which’s great for tracking, makes them hard to wear for extended periods. We don’t do any stress tests and very few models are used for longer than a couple of days, so this is a fairly subjective score. The Sennheiser HD280 Pro circumaural headphones are closed-back, designed for professional monitoring applications. If you blast these while recording near a mic, there will be some sound leakage, but they don't bleed like an open pair would—their circumaural (around the ear), snug fit prevents most sounds from escaping, provided you listen at moderate levels. The sound of the headphones at first before they're broken in is rather harsh and very mid-forward, but after a good dozen hours they mellow out and become more smooth, still with a good mid-presence which really emphasizes vocals, and is real useful for vocal tracking.
