The Penultimate Sharp Teeth Presents: The June Edition - The Wardrobe Theatre - Bristol

For the last four years Sharp Teeth Theatre have been bringing together theatre, storytelling, poetry and music to create a night of riotous Sunday fun. They’ve had raps about stolen bikes, poems about cottaging, performances from drag kings, new writing about women who climb the shard, and improvised storytelling about Lance Armstrong getting lost in a bathtub of meat, amongst many other things. Each night features four acts, one from each genre. Recent nights have included Spindle Ensemble, Malaika Kegode, Ellie Showering, Craft-D, Wilf Merttens, Lucy Harrington, Claire Murphy, Katie Storer, and more – the best of local and not so local talent. And it’s all Pay What You Decide!Check out line-ups online, and come on down for an evening of joyous art, like a variety show, but better, better, better!“We were spoilt as the bill threw up outstanding humourous and thought provoking acts.”The Fix MagPAY WHAT YOU DECIDEOur recommended donation is £5, but many people give more. Remember there is no cash point at the Wardrobe Theatre or immediately nearby.TETHERED BY GILL SIMMONS"Tethered" is a solo show about family ties, bonding, umbilical cords and heartstrings. It blends movement, music and spoken word. "Tethered" explores how our ties to other people can root us but also sometimes limit us. For Gill, who made and performs the piece, it's about solo parenting. For you, it might be about something else.It was commissioned by BS13 Theatre Company, funded by Dundry View Wellbeing Fund, and was first performed as a play for three actors at Zion Community Arts Space in 2015 as part of an evening of new writing called ‘In My Shoes’ (Directed by Bryn Holding and featuring Charlotte Ellis, Alex Gartshore & Annette Chown). It has since been developed and performed as a piece of performance art as part of Fringe Arts Bath 2017, was presented at a Demostage event curated by MAYK in April 2018, and was filmed as part of Back to Back Theatre's international film project "The Democratic Set" in collaboration with Bristol producers collective In Between Time and Knowle West Media Centre in July 2018.A snippet was presented as part of International Women's Day 2019 at City Hall in March, and was workshopped at the Mothers Who Make meeting at the Bristol Old Vic also in March 2019.Ultimately it will be an hour long show. This evening you're seeing 20 minutes of it.Devised and performed by Gill Simmons (Brave Bold Drama)Dramaturgy: Heidi Hollis and Evan LordanChoreography: Vic HoleACTS TBA
