About this deal

I will look into the https://crinacle.com/2020/04/08/graphs-101-how-to-read-headphone-measurements/ and I will try to look for an IEMs with low bass and very high pinna gain. The Kima feature Harman-influenced tuning with a light v-shaped profile. The midrange is a touch behind, but there isn’t crazy energy at the frequency extremes. It’s all very pleasant sounding, if not overtly exciting. Graph of the DUNU Kima Classic versus original Kima via IEC711 coupler. 8 kHz is a coupler artefact peak.

This IEM houses a dual-cavity DLC DD, with an internal N52 magnet. These are placed inside a specially designed resonance chamber with a unique internal airflow architecture. Indeed, the absence of driver flex does allude to the success of this design! There is a small vent located near the nozzle and a larger circular vent hole on the inside surface of the main body. The grill, 2-pin port, and vents are visible. Comfort vs Dunu Titan SIronically, the most formidable opponent to the Kima come from within the family – Dunu Titan S. The clarity and imaging of the Titan S are a tier above the Kima, and the bass also seem faster. DUNU Kima Classic is a redesigned variant of the award-winning DUNU Kima. At a fair glance, the pair looks just like Kima in a new color scheme, but the sound of the Kima Classic brings a new, fresh flavor to the listeners. DUNU has readjusted the tuning of the pair to deliver a more pronounced lower-end, more lively treble, and a cleaner midrange response. While the shell shape is kept the same, the new Kima Classic has got a wonderful new Classic Coffee Grey color theme. The cable has been designed to match the smokey look of the pair!! Kima was a wonderful set, Kima Classic brings a breath of fresh air to the lineup with a new tuning profile!!Although constructed of metal, the Kima are relatively lightweight (15g). Coupled with the smooth ergonomic shape and small size, the Kima are comfortable in the ear. Again, nothing especially unusual here, just good design from a company with experience crafting IEMs. Internals The treble is, perhaps unsurprisingly, fairly restrained and likely won’t cause even the most treble-sensitive listeners any concern. As the upper midrange transitions into the higher frequencies, there continues to be enough presence to remain articulate, but nothing jumps out. Fit / IsolationThe DKC fits me fairly nicely when I fiddle for a minute. A small price to pay for a good seal on this latest Dunu single DD. The shape is kind of flat against the ear with a shorter front nozzle. Couple that with the fact that the Dunu S&S eartips are a sort of odd fit themselves and what you have is a fiddling session. No problem though, I expect as much from any iem I put into my ears. I have zero idea how the DKC will fit you, but I do think the DKC has a pretty universal build which should fit most ears. You may not have any of my fit issues at all, and they may fit you like a glove. The Kima’s midrange has a warm, bodied tonality courtesy of the bass shelf extending through to the 300 Hz region and early upper mids rise (pinna gain). To balance out the sound, the Kima maintains this level of upper mids energy well into the 5 kHz region. It provides vocal and instrument clarity and prevents the Kima from sounding too bogged down. On the flip side, the bodied nature of the Kima keeps it from sounding shouty. Vocals are nicely positioned - distinctly positioned independent of the other instruments, but not too forward that it steals the spotlight. Acoustic guitars and cellos in particular shine on the Kima with a lushness in the strings. Gritty, moody tones of the electric guitar are emphasized over screaming lead lines. As a whole, I find the Kima’s midrange to be an easy and enjoyable listen. Notes are cleanly defined across the board but not sharply so to maintain a relaxed nature. It's clear that Dunu knows how to bring a new model to market and attract attention. But to get to that point it has been necessary to build a good reputation. And, moreover, to maintain it. The hardest thing is always to maintain a status. But of course, with models like the Kima, that's the best way to prove it.

If it’s clarity you are after, the Titan S are better options. For those preferring warmth and easier listneing, the Dunu Kima are more suitable. KIMA is the brand new single dynamic driver set of in-ear monitors from DUNU. You get beautifully designed matte-finished metallic ear cavities that have a 3D-styled design. They house a 10mm dynamic driver that features the latest-generation Diamond-Like Carbon(DLC) diaphragm producing unmatched sound performance. KIMA brings the magic of a single-dynamic driver with its exceptional sound performance!! High-Performance Dual-Chamber Dynamic Driver Unit:- Soundstage has good depth, but the width and height are about average. Imaging is good, falling slightly short of class leaders (more on this below). Macrodynamic punch is decent, but microdynamics are where the Dunu Kima excel. Subtle gradations in volume are discernible and this makes the whole presentation feel more organic. The shape is very good and once fitted, the capsules rest very well in my ears. The overall mouthpiece projection, like the length of the set, is on the shallow end. I don't know if it's the angle, but I found it difficult to find tips with which to achieve an occlusive seal, without loss of bass. On this occasion, I had to resort to the most normal silicone tips, size L (13.5mm outer diameter), with an inner core of 4.5mm. The core is long and supports the mouthpiece a bit further, the insertion is shallow and relatively fragile, not very suitable for use in movement, just walking or very gentle activities.

The Dunu Kima has a Harman-ish tuning. The Kima has a more pronounced sub-bass emphasis and a more distinct pinna gain peak than many of its peers that opt for more relaxed transitions in these frequency ranges. With expectations firmly set by ground beef, a waifu, and CRIZ FACTION protectors, we have a good idea of what to expect with this new set of IEMs from DUNU. Huh? No, I guess not. Wow. I have so many questions. Who are the CRIZ FACTION? Where are they from? What are they protecting? Why are they gathered under one banner? Are there more from the CRIZ FACTION that we can expect? Will they all be anime girls? Where are the guys? Is this the start of the DUNU cinematic universe? Are we meant to catch them all?
