About this deal

Made in the London Dry gin style, the Mombasa Club Strawberry Edition is a twist on the original recipe. It is triple-distilled for delicate smoothness before being infused with real strawberries and other red fruits. The result is a sweet, juicy gin which is perfect for the summer. It makes an amazingly fruity G&T when mixed with quality tonic water and garnished with a fresh strawberry and a little sprig of mint. It has a delicate pink colour with rich aromas of strawberries on the nose, and the flavours balance between sweetness and acidity with bold fruity notes. The Mombasa Club was an essential part of Colonial life and became famous and popular as a welcoming, idyllic meeting point allowing for leisure, where its members held lively debates or interchanged news, whilst sipping their Mombasa Club gin & tonics (an exclusive gin from England that was specially distilled and bottled for the consumption and pleasure of its members).

Terroir, typically a term associated with wine, has found relevance in the craft gin scene. English distillers have begun to emphasise the importance of locality and sourcing, with botanicals often foraged from the surrounding countryside, adding a unique dimension to the gin. This local character allows for gins that reflect the very essence of the English landscape - from the rolling hills of the Cotswolds to the rugged coastlines of Cornwall. Nowadays, Mombasa Club Gin continues to bring a nostalgic reminiscence of those romantic pioneering adventurers of the glorious, epic English colonialism of the nineteenth Century. is managed by B Office GmbH (DE318767726 - Court: District Court Flensburg HRB 12943 FL),Suederstrasse 75,24955 Harrislee -Court: District Court Flensburg HRB 12943 FL

This was where the first private social club was set up: Namely the mythical Mombasa Club. It was founded in 1885 by officials of The British East Africa Protectorate and was exclusively for Englishmen, those either born in the United Kingdom or who held permanent or temporary official positions or, who carried out work for the Imperial East Africa Company. Made under the classic English style, Colonel’s gin has a higher ABV (43.5% vol.) And more intense aromas than its namesake. In fact, it contains seven botanicals, highlighting the caraway seed, instead of angelica, and the addition of calamus, an aquatic plant that usually grows in marshy areas. The making of Mombasa Gin Club Colonel’s Reserve arises from a 4 times distilled alcohol of the highest quality, which serves to macerate all the botanicals for a 24 hours . After which is then once again distilled in small pot still designed and built by the London manufacturer “John Dore”. Gustatory Stage: On the palate, it conveys a silky touch, subtly supported by its well-distributed aromas and slight sweetness. The aromatic farewell, is the second value of this gin that reveals a long and calm maceration of the botanicals.

Mombasa Club Colonel’s Reserve Gin is distilled following the traditional method known as batch distillation. The grain is all sourced from the UK, it is predominately wheat with some barley. No rye is used at all. After three distillations the botanicals are left to macerate for 48 hours before the final distillation is produced in the Tom Thumb 500 litre Pot Still. This prolonged period allows the alcohol to extract much more flavours and oils from the botanicals and gives a much more intense and roundness to the final product. Gustative Stage: We already know that tasting a gin straight is not usual, but in this case it is worth sipping a small amount with a little water to appreciate its aromatic power. English gin, a spirit steeped in history and tradition, has undergone a remarkable renaissance, evolving from its infamous 18th-century moniker as ‘Mother’s Ruin’ to its contemporary status as a cornerstone of artisanal distillation and mixology. Its story is a tale of transformation and innovation, with English gin now celebrated across the globe for its quality and diversity of styles.

Olfactory Stage: Aromatically, it enjoys the harmony of a perfect fusion among its botanicals (cassia, caraway, calamus) highlighting, subtly, it’s more floral and citric point. The juniper then balances the whole. A few seconds resting in the glass, magnify the aromas creating a whole world of complexity and flavours from the botanicals. It begins in the end of the XIX Century, in the heart of Victorian times. The mighty and famous British Empire had been immersed in a colonial struggle throughout Africa for decades. The Empire already dominated sea communications and commercial routes, as well as most of the merchandise traffic between the Orient and the West. Mombasa Gin Club Colonel’s Reserve is a special limited edition in homage to this particular breed of men who were able to take the Victorian British Empire through its most glorious period, reaching world fame and recognition. The popularity of English gin has also given rise to 'gin tourism,' with enthusiasts eager to tour distilleries, attend tastings, and participate in gin-making workshops. Distilleries such as Bombay Sapphire's Laverstoke Mill offer interactive experiences that immerse visitors in the world of gin, showcasing both the craft and science behind the spirit.

We reserve right to make mistake and have wrong info for some spesific product. In the early 21st century, England witnessed a gin revival fueled by a surge in craft distilleries and a growing interest in artisanal spirits. Innovators like Sipsmith, which in 2009 became the first copper-pot-based distillery to start up in London in over 150 years, led the charge, championing small-batch production and premium ingredients. The craft movement has not only revitalised traditional styles but also introduced a new wave of contemporary gins featuring unconventional botanicals and distillation processes. During the last third of the 19th Century, important British officials were stationed in the main Eastern commercial seaport, the strategic coastal city of Mombasa in Kenya, where, in 1885, they founded the first private social club: The legendary Mombasa Club which reached great fame and popularity as an inviting, idyllic meeting and relaxation place, where the members held lively debates and exchanged news along with their gins & tonics.

Mombasa Gin Club Colonel’s Reserve is a special and limited edition in homage to this lineage of adventurers who were able to take the British Victorian Empire to its most glorious period.
