About this deal

Canadian album certifications – Iron Maiden – The Final Frontier". Music Canada . Retrieved 26 September 2019. The highlights? The paganic Isle of Avalon, the cosmic Starblind, the adventurous The Talisman and of course, one of the best ballads since Bruce's 'Tears of the Dragon' - Coming Home. Simms, Kelley (26 July 2010). "Iron Maiden – Adrian Smith (guitar)". SMNNews. Archived from the original on 24 September 2015 . Retrieved 22 January 2013. Gold-/Platin-Datenbank (Iron Maiden; 'The Final Frontier ')" (in German). Bundesverband Musikindustrie . Retrieved 26 September 2019. I feel Iron Maiden has chosen a path that will ultimately lead to their musical demise. Whereas in the past their albums were full of glorious and thunderous metal songs and your occasional epic tune to balance things out, now it’s the other way around. And the result is a band that plays on autopilot and merely goes through the motions and that no longer writes memorable songs. I bet you’d be hard-pressed to find a single Maiden fan that actually believes The Final Frontier surpasses their early efforts.

He sounds far more inspired on the following song though, and his passion can be heard soaring (no pun intended) through the chorus of "Coming home" - as well it should do, as it is another recounting of his well documented love of flying and the freedom and togetherness that he at least seems to feel that it brings. This sort of thing is the real heart of what Iron Maiden are all about these days - we've heard it on songs like "Blood brothers" and ""The thin line between love and hate", and we here it on this one too; honest, heartfelt emotion. Fantastical lyrics still appear of course, but rather than channelling themselves through aggression or speed, Maiden often choose to lead their listeners on with songs of sweeping romance and plaintive beauty. Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry. Retrieved 29 June 2020. This album came almost from nowhere, with little information coming from the band, and it turned out to be one of the greatest surprises coming from Iron Maiden. A peak of their proggy influences, resulting in one of the, if not the strongest effor yet. Highly recommended. An illustrator I know, who already did several event t-shirts for our club, showed me something quite strange. Grant's not-so-surreal Eddies look a lot like an angry monkey or the creatures that Larn was fighting in the legendary animation Fire and Ice. I have not thought about it, but it's definitely something that comes to mind whenever I see the specific artworks. As we can see in the first sketches, the creature has a much more “healthy” looking face, but the band asked Grant to add all these wound and burn effects to it. Probably at this point came the the idea and the script for the video of the title song "The Final Frontier". In the same video we can see Eddie and a space pilot chasing each other and fighting over an alien artifact. This also explains the strange object in Eddie's hand, it is some sort of key. Mother of Mercy and Coming Home are good, enjoyable songs but dont blow you away altough there are some brilliant moments in said songs.. Iron Maiden is the greatest heavy metal band to ever live. Thirty years after the release of their self-titled album, they are arguably just as relevant as they ever have been—not resting on their laurels and imitating a hits jukebox, but instead touring the world playing their new material to the joy of fans everywhere. After what was a rousing success with their most recent record, the 2006 release of A Matter of Life and Death, there is actually maybe a bit more pressure on the band to produce something that is quality, memorable and, frankly, classic. Especially with the rumors floating around that this is Maiden's final album, spurred even further on by the fact that Steve Harris helped write every song on the record, the pressure cooker of fan scrutiny is reaching fever pitch. And so it falls to this Angry Metal Guy to try to put all of this into some sort of context; to try to listen to my favorite band with fresh ears—and I've come to some realizations about the band in the process. Mixed Starblind today. Adrian came by to hear it - and was desirous of more reverb on some things - it's a little bit of a continuous internal battle, and is essentially just a different way to hear things. Def Leppard on one hand, something garagey on the other. Extra reverb was not added to anything. Adrian left happy and understanding, I thought!!!

However, you can tell right from this first song that there’s something... off about this album. The instruments are okay, but the vocals aren’t. Something off about Bruce’s voice. Is it down to bad mixing or is he just not giving his all? I think it’s a mix of both. It sounds distinctly different from the three previous albums and the following one, The Book of Souls. It really doesn’t sound like the passion is as present here, and while he hits the notes excellently, there’s little more than that. Compiled the vocal for Starblind, and began the mix of it - it is proving to be a complicated mix and quite difficult. Gerber, Justin (19 August 2010). "Iron Maiden The Final Frontier". Consequence of Sound . Retrieved 19 August 2010.It is clear that the name of Iron Maiden is respected and revered as few, so it shouldn't be enough to elevate to the category of work of art whatever they do. First, I must tell you that I'm a great fan of this band, so the dose of objectivity you won't find here. Overall, objectivity is nothing more than reading what they want to read. But I give you my word that I've listened to this album many times, too enough to give an opinion worth taking into account, trying to get away from a devotion that goes beyond what is strictly normal, and I admit that with no blush. I'm surprised by the controversy that The Final Frontier sparked at the time. I'm not surprised, I rather find it funny that they say that they are nothing short of slop by now, at least it often happens in environments closer to the forums than to real life, even sometimes getting into ridiculous disputes receiving insults from naughty bAd bOyS. Unlike A Matter Of Life And Death, Maiden didn’t play the album in its entirety on the accompanying tour, but they did concentrate on songs recorded since the return of Bruce and Adrian Smith in 1999. Iron Maiden Announces Support Acts For UK Tour". Blabbermouth.net. 18 February 2011 . Retrieved 20 November 2011. went straight to No.1 in the album charts in 28 countries worldwide. Mervis, Scott (14 July 2010). "Iron Maiden tour won't breach 'Final Frontier' ". Pittsburgh Post-Gazette . Retrieved 21 March 2021.

Vocal day - Bruce arrived, with stories, as usual. Tales from flights around the world - Russia, Iceland, Niger..... Today he sang Coming Home and El Dorado, then we had a break for lunch, after which he nailed the lead vocal for Mother of Mercy! It's very, very high... Bruce came in from Marina Del Ray and sang two songs today - Satellite 15 and When the Wild Wind Blows. Started working on the Wild Wind mix.The Final Frontier offers a mix of easy and progressive, old and new Iron Maiden. A welcome album after the dark and difficult A Matter Of Life And Death that can please both old and new fans of the band, it might take a place in my top five of Maiden albums!
