About this deal

With a 61-key keyboard, the NP-12 is probably best left to beginners, although experienced players seeking a reliable digital piano to use on the go will certainly appreciate what’s on offer. Weighing just 4.5kg, it’s one of the more impressive portable digital pianos available. In conclusion, the NP-32 and NP-12 are solid beginner keyboards that impress despite their limited feature set. I’ll stand by what I said earlier, and the NP-series keyboards are easily one of the best budget keyboards you can buy as a beginner. The keys themselves are also 1 mm narrower than real pianos, possibly another step taken to reduce the overall width of the keyboard. This is ultimately negligible, and I didn’t notice this too much during the test.

Yamaha’s acoustic technology furnishes the Piaggero’s powerful sound—a sound that belies its compact size, featuring resonant grand piano-style bass notes and beautifully detailed treble tones. As with most Yamaha instruments, each voice comes with a default reverb setting, which I find well-tuned. Unless you’re chasing a specific tonality, you should be fine with the defaults. If you can live without half-pedaling (which is not important for beginners), you can go with the Nektar NP-2, a cheap but well-built sustain pedal with a universal switch that works with any keyboard out there. You may wonder how it is possible to have 32, 64, or even 128 notes playing at the same time, if there are only 88 keys and we never play them all at once. AWM, Advanced Wave Memory Stereo sampling is a sampling system, creating superb wave data that mirrors the sound and expression of the original instrument by using advanced digital technologies. It creates a unique, rich sound by using multiple waveforms. Built-In Speakers The term ‘ reverb’ is short for ‘reverberation,’ and if you know your physics, these are emulations of how a sound reacts in an enclosed space, like a room or hall.

At 61 keys, this keyboard is much more portable than a full range (88 keys), which can be a plus for beginners and mobile players because of its smaller size, but might be a hindrance for classical players who need all of those keys. The sounds are often sampled near their source, which gives them a dry feel. Adding reverb allows the keyboardist to place them in spaces to suit the songs they’re playing. The balance of the Yamaha NP12 is quite positive as for less than 200€ it offers you 61 pressure-sensitive keys with a pretty good sound, sustain pedal input of only 4.5 Kg. and the possibility of use with 6 AA batteries for about 16 hours. First of all, many of today’s digital pianos use stereo samples, which sometimes require two or even more notes for each key played.A total of ten sounds gives the NP-12 plenty of versatility. Perhaps the most noteworthy of these is the stereo grand piano. Created using a sample from an authentic Yamaha grand piano, the sound replication is fantastic, and certainly the most impressive available. Beyond this, you can create a range of different sounds. For instance, there are two great electric piano sounds available, including a vintage sound common in the 70s, along with a more classic 80s synth-like sound. With Piaggero you can practice and play more—who knows, friends might even start asking you to play at their parties! Because it’s light enough to be carried in one hand and works on battery power, you can take it anywhere you want, and setup is a breeze. Connect to your iOS device for even more fun

COMPACT KEYBOARD– 61 keys in a piano-style keyboard, 10 quality Voices, USB TO HOST terminal and plug-in your iOS device for added performance functions and easier operation. Portable thanks to its lightweight and with a battery powered option, take it anywhere. The USB B connection allows you to connect your Piaggero instrument to your computer for MIDI communication for music production or link to your iOS device. Connect the instrument to Yamaha’s "Smart Pianist" app, developed exclusively for use with Yamaha’s digital pianos, for even more intuitive operation. If you want to take a video of your performance and share it on platforms like YouTube, TikTok and so on, Rec'n'Share is the way to go. Connect the Piaggero to your smart device and record both video and audio at the same time to complete your video. Features/Specification:You’re tired of lugging around your big, heavy keyboard. It’s too big and bulky to take with you on the go, and it’s hard to find a place to store it at home. As with most budget selections, you’ll need to investigate an upgrade in the future, but the NP-32 is a solid choice for nailing down the basics.

Ex Demo / Open Box products have either been used in our showroom or video studio for demonstration purposes, or they have been sent to a customer and returned within within 14 days under the terms of our change-of-mind policy.

The NP32 is a clear winner as it is a keyboard with more keys and better sensitivity technology, it also has the benefit of sound power, however, if your focus is on portability or time of use with batteries the NP12 might be the best choice for you. Below is a video showing the two Yamaha models:
