As I said previously, it did not live up to my expectations. The book dragged on and there was too much emphasis put on the characters in the previous books, making it waaaay longer than necessary. I can honestly say that there are entire chapters in this book that could have been removed completely. the extra seven weeks 😭. I. Was. 😭 during this scene. It isn’t until you lose someone close that you realize how important every day, every hour, every minute is 😭. Which is why, I think, I was able to overlook some grievances I had against Lucian (😑)
i wasn’t even surprised we got another unexpected crime plot randomly thrown in, it was honestly just unnecessary lmaoo. but y’know it’s a true lucy score style to randomly throw in a dramatic hostage situation and shooting scene. the romance story with thriller thrown in plus the several side stories?? it just does not work for me unfortunately.. Suffice it to say that this is easily the best Lucy Score book I’ve read. In my review of Things We Hide From The Light I complained at length about why I hadn’t found a truly 5 star read by LS. Of course the next one of her books I read turns out to be just what I was looking for. I’m just so happy and emotional and in love with this love story. I no longer give a damn about Knox or Nash. Give me Lucian Rollins or no one at all. So all in all, I cannot in good conscience give THE THINGS WE LEFT BEHIND a higher rating than an average of 3 stars. i refuse to believe the men in series are 40+ when they behave like 15 year olds!! like seriously, their behaviour throughout this series was so embarrassing - like in this book they fist fight each other outside a bar?? as carrie bradshaw once said: “STOP IT, YOU’RE MIDDLE AGED”This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and to say it was a disappointment is taking it lightly. The angst literally broke me in so many different ways!! It was heart breaking and had me literally crying so many times it’s not even normal anymore!!! These two broke and healed my heart at least 381973283 times!! If you’ve read the first two, you know how many little hints we’ve gotten about Sloane and Lucian having a secret past but that something happened that made Sloane hate him. We also know from the first two books that Lucian is not so secretly still obsessed with Sloane despite whatever it was that happened. I was curious how that would all play out and tbh nervous that it would disappoint or fall flat. IT DID NOT. IT WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE. Think teenage football star QB boy next door crawling in your window at night for safety because of his abusive family. It’s heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time and gives you ALL THE FEELS.
Their relationship was also (obviously) complete and utter perfection!! It was chaotic at times but in the best way possible!! From the banter up to the smut, there were 0 flaws in my eyes and these two definitely lived up to my expectations!!! They even exceeded them by a mile if you ask me!! I just love these two so so much and I’m so going to miss them!!! Broken men break women. It's what Lucian believes, what he's witnessed, and he's not going to take that chance with Sloane. Sloane Walton is a spitfire determined to carry on her father's quest for justice. She'll do that just as soon as she figures out exactly what the man she hates did to - or for - her family. Bonded by an old, dark secret from the past and the dislike they now share for each other, Sloane trusts Lucian about as far as she can throw his designer-suited body. This was a great conclusion to a fabulous series. It brought to light the love of friendship and how found families are more than just blood. This book was a satisfying ending to all three couples and had two amazing epilogues. Why not a 5-star rating?

He is a complex character whose protective nature clashes with his reluctance to commit to a family.At this point, the book is still being written but I feel like this is just enough to get you excited and hopefully, hold you over until the cover is released.This is a snippet of a scene in which the best book boyfriends: Nash, Knox, and Lucian are talking about Sloane. As for the 2 main characters - Sloane (heroine) came across too meek and not as she was portrayed in the previous books. Understandably the loss of Sloane's father added to her frame of mind, but there's more to it than that.

This book made me laugh out loud WAY too many times, and my coworkers stared at me so much today while I finished it.Things We Left Behind” follows Lucian Rollins and Sloane Walton as they navigate their complicated pasts and the magnetic pull drawing them together. I even said that in early updates of my reading, first 15-20% of this book were good, but then it went downhill. If it weren't for that atrocious smut Lucy Score is famous for, I would've thought she had been abducted and her abductor finished the book. The more money and power he gains, the safer he feels. Well, this book did not disappoint!! Hands down, it's the best one of the series and I loved the first two. I have been anticipating Lucian and Sloanes story since book 1 and I am so happy to report that it really delivered for me! Lucy Score just does it for me, I love her writing style, her humor and no one does found family like her, which is one of my favorite things ever and this book was no exception. The banter and the chemistry were WHITE HOT! And the epilogue and the extended epilogue was like a present wrapped up in a bow for those of us that have followed this series from the beginning.
