About this deal

The Cotswolds is getting its very own official Monopoly game, and they want you to help them choose who, what and where is to be included. It’s a beautiful place steeped in history, and we hope this will mean many more people ‘Pass GO’ through the area. I’d encourage everyone in the Cotswolds to make suggestions on what they would like to see in the game so that we can create a board that represents the entire district.

It's a beautiful place steeped in history and we hope that this will mean many more people ‘Pass GO’ through the area. There’s also a sheep, instead of the Scottie Dog, along with a camper van (to replace the top hat) and some hiking boots (to replace the old boot). The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused. The infamous ‘boot’ has been a classic part of monopoly since the game’s debut , modelled after the practical work shoe of the 1930’s . Elsewhere a tractor is being used as a playing piece instead of the racing car from the classic edition following a public vote amongst good humoured Cotswoldians as part of the big reveal. When we tell you that there has been much excitement and merriment here at Little Soap HQ, we really mean it- there has been a LOT of excitement! The most expensive property up for grabs is Broadway Tower, while at the other end of the scale is Malmesbury Abbey, filling the space usually occupied by Old Kent Road. Cllr Joe Harris, leader of Cotswold District Council, said: “We’re thrilled the Cotswolds will be the next area of the UK to be immortalised in the form of its very own Monopoly. Meanwhile the Standard makes an appearance on one of the chance squares just two spots along from free parking. We are sure this unique edition offers the recognition to all involved who offer the best places to visit in the Cotswolds.

Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, Cllr Lisa Spivey said “Our newsletter, Cotswold Roundup, is a great way for residents to stay informed on what is happening in their district and I would recommend for all to sign up if they aren’t already. Custom games executive at Winning Moves UK, Ella Gibbs, said: ‘We feel that charities getting to feature on all of the game’s three Community Chest spaces is a great fit, bearing in mind the ‘community’ aspect of these unique Monopoly features. The Cotswolds is being celebrated in boardgame style after competing against 19 other areas of outstanding beauty across the UK, beating the likes of Snowdonia, Norfolk Broads and Peak District.

With the Cotswolds getting its very own version of Monopoly, three local charities have the chance to be featured on the Community Chest spaces on the board. The world’s favourite family board game brings you another exciting edition of MONOPOLY – the Cotswolds!
