About this deal

graveyard recursion; Osgir, the Reconstructor, Feldon of the Third Path, Scrap Trawler, Sanctum Gargoyle, Sun Titan, Daretti, Scrap Savant, Reconstruct History, Wake the Past The Kollema Hall is a grand, multi-tiered gallery where Lorehold mages gather for large lectures and demonstrations. Thousand-foot-long scrolls spill over the balconies as mages study ancient texts. The center of Kollema Hall is the magnificently restored statue of Kollema, the wise monk who was one of the first Lorehold professors at the founding of Strixhaven. [5] Kollema Hall has an imposing spire. [6] Powerful and varied synergies between the cards. A decent number of good tutors. Good mana curve. Has an efficient and consistent way to win on turns 10-12 (level 7) or 7-9 (level 8). Some social rules — like no mass land destruction, no consistent combo wins — still exist. Card ability matches its name perfectly. Probably not worth the slot most of the time for me, but you can absolutely make some political hay with this. Prismari are the theatre kids of Strixhaven, and magic is how they express themselves. Their spells can be spectacles of raw creativity or meticulous artistic expressions. All the world's a stage, and whether their art is informed by mind or emotion, Prismari always leave a lasting impression. Their motto is "Express yourself with the elements."

A great value engine in the vein of Wurmcoil Engine, though the tokens it makes are less useful. The original body is arguably better though, flying, vigilance, and trample is a really tough combo to deal with in straight creature vs creature combat. Nowthat we have the ratios in mind, let's take a look at the individual cards, highlighting the strongest and weakest in each category. Other than that, equipment seem to be the glue that hold together the Myr tribe. Give a build like this a shot and let me know how it turns out. New Cards From Strixhaven Haste, card advantage, synergizes with what both it and Osgir are doing to grow big, what’s not to love? Phillip: I think the real thing to do with this is ignoring the fractal token you make, and equip it to a commander that get’s +1/+1s and go to town.

The One New Common

Arcbound Reclaimer– There are a lot of Golems with this Modular ability. If you want to build around that, consider including +1/+1 counters synergies.

Cards that were printed in the simultaneously-released Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion, and thus use the Strixhaven expansion symbol, are: Additionally, since we have a significant portion of foreign language students, the Mystical Archive is available in all languages, but we have something additional and special for our Japanese students! To learn more (and see more), visit here later today. Oh baby. Some of the best ramp white has ever seen. At absolute worst this is 3 mana for 2 lands to hand, which is like…..fine. If you’re hitting that fail case, you’re probably in decent shape. In other cases this is going to be strictly better Cultivate with a dash of Burgeoning thrown in. Both the reprints and the new cards we’re getting this year seem to be more interesting than what we got in the last few sets of precons. Overall, I think this compensates for the increase in price. Phillip: I think this guy is definitely playable, 4 for a 5/3 is very reasonable and sacrificing food to make things invulnerable is very useful. Netting foods off your creatures entering ought to give you a steady supply of value.Oh boy, having Parallel Lives as a Commander is uh, really good. There’s a reason it’s currently like a 50 dollar card, both because the effect is very powerful and because it’s very very popular. Adrix and Nev aren’t reinventing the wheel, but you’re going to see them everywhere. This is suuuuper nice to have in these colors. Giving your opponents a big vanilla creature is vastly preferable to whatever horrific stuff is making you pull this trigger.

Golem Artisan– Another infinite combo outlet. If you can come up with infinite mana, this creature can with the game for you. Phillip: Lifegain is so easy this is potentially an engine that will let you wipe people out, but it’s potentially just a 5/5 with trample for 5, so the only real buff is if you’re spamming a lot of creatures. Take careful consideration of each college and start giving thought to which one you'll choose! Lorehold A very nice boardwipe. Forcing players to sacrifice rather than destroying is extremely relevant, because there are far more ways to prepare for the latter than the former. Not a lot of Sigarda, Host of Herons waiting to ambush you at instant speed. Normally allowing them to keep their best creature has significant downside but the vow counter removes that nicely. Commander (2021 Edition) releases alongside Strixhaven: School of Mages on April 23 with no scheduled release for Magic Online or Magic Arena.

The Effigy Row is a main campus area of Lorehold. Its pathways are lined with monuments of famous historical figures, including past professors and prominent mage-students as well as war heroes and heads of state from ages past. [6] Depending on your board, this can get absolutely insane. Would you like it if your Avenger of Zendikar made a bunch of other Avengers rather than plants? Yeah, me too. Now what if you have a doubling effect or two on board? Phillip: It’s really a shame it’s “another” target creature, because this could potentially be a nasty punching commander. Even so gaining life and losing life when you want is really easy, and this can enable a huge punching session or else cards that can do crazy things with counters like Sage of Hours. Whatever area of study you should choose, you will have access to our vast library of resources with spells and knowledge spanning all of magic! Some spells are certainly too dangerous and powerful even for careful mages, but at Strixhaven, we value knowledge above all else and thus have a library of historical spells to rival any other! The theme is on point, and it’s not as outrageous as it might initially seem to get 8 spells into your yard, but 8 is still a pretty healthy amount. In exchange you get a big creature with no evasion that makes other creatures big with no evasion that still dies to board wipes. When you get the trigger on a flying token it’s going to feel good, but you’re doing a not insignificant amount of work to get there.

Leading the charge in Lorehold Legacies is Osgir, the Reconstructor. As you can see, Osgir cares about buffing up artifacts or extending the value of those artifacts in your graveyard. Frostwalk Bastion– If you include this card, you might want to consider switching your basic Lands for Snow-Covered basics. If this ends up being the case, you can include other Snow synergies. Phillip: Six mana is so much, but this could potentially copy a huge spell a ton of times and also let you pump a creature hilariously, and red is the best color for double strike.Because I don’t want to mention them in every section, there are a few artifact creatures that could go in every tribe. They are Adaptive Automaton, Bloodline Pretender, and Metallic Mimic. Loreholds are diligent researchers and daring adventurers. Passionate scholars obsessed with history, they explore the past by pouring over archaeological artifacts and summoning long-dead spirits. For some students, the past is a rich tapestry worthy of disciplined study. While others wear that tapestry like a cape as they jump down into a forgotten tomb. Their motto is "Leave no stone unturned." The Pillardrop is a series of historical buildings excavated directly out of sheer, perpendicular cliffs, now used for research, classwork, and housing. Travelers walk along treacherous bridges from one "neighborhood" of Pillardrop to another, often passing directly by the enormous stone faces of ancient, excavated statues.
