About this deal

This book is so informative, and generates so many conversations for learning about the world - Geography, Cultures, Language, Food, Animals, History, etc. My daughter is so happy with it, lots of friends and family have commented on how beautiful it is and the quality is amazing. I bought it for one of my grand-families, and so loved the look and feel of it that my husband bought ME one for Christmas!

That is not a boast; you really get a strong sense of each country and feel like you've really been on a journey if you read it cover to cover. The continent maps are more basic than the country maps, but still include facts like the number of countries, the area and sealife. Used books have different signs of use and might not include supplemental materials such as CDs, Dvds, Access Codes, charts or any other extra material. What makes Maps so special, aside from its fantastic and unique illustrations and fun and quirky facts, is the sheer atmosphere it creates and the feeling of discovery you get from turning its pages.

I bought this book for my husband, he loves maps and has travelled extensively, I know that he will love it and he will also enjoy showing it to our grandchildren. Talk about all the fabulous things to do in each country and detailed history with great quality pictures, even ive learnt something new. Dust Jackets are not guaranteed and when still present, they will have various degrees of tear and damage. This book of maps is a visual feast for readers of all ages, with lavishly drawn illustrations from the incomparable Mizielinskis. I've spent a lot of looking at the pages with my nephew aged 7 and he has been fascinated with the book. The tagline on this gorgeous book promises you can 'Travel the globe without leaving your living room' and, for the armchair traveller this surely is the most fun way of doing so.

It’s a beautifully illustrated picture book, which still has pride of place in his room now he’s a teenager. It's a celebration of the world, from its immense mountains to its tiny insects - and everything in between! The country pages are very detailed and all include the flag, capital city, the languages spoken, population, and area as well as a host of other illustrations about the country including the wildlife, food, buildings, famous people and many more. Informative and inspiring, the myriad activities in this book challenge the reader to discover something new and explore their imagination to draw, decorate and design every pull-out page.As someone else mentioned it it a bit cluttered, however one of the biggest disappointments for me was Ireland barely being referenced. The amount of interesting information any child or adult can pick up from thumbing through this book is amazing in my opinon. If you love BIG books and clear informative maps, then this is the book for you , and for your grandchildren! With each page turned, you'll be learning fascinating facts associated with each region of the world.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This beautiful large-format poster book lets you put the world on your wall with the gorgeous images from Big Picture Press s bestselling Maps. This is an innovative approach to geography which will keep young and not so young, discoverers coming back again and again to pore over the quirky, delightful drawings. The oversized coffee table book has double page spreads of each map, beginning with a world map then split into continents, with maps from a selection of countries from that continent behind the continent map. This book is a celebration of the world, from its immense mountains to its tiny insects - and everything in between! I love books like this that that introduce geography and culture to children without them realising that they are actually learning! Bursting with fascinating facts and puzzles from around the world, it offers hours of entertainment to young adventurers. The countries are illustrated with animals - both current and prehistoric - which makes retention of facts so much easier.
