Eufy's Wi-Fi is WPA2 encrypted, all videos are encrypted with AES-256 and the data are double-encrypted. Video quality The resolution is a bit of a double-edged sword here. Because it’s only 1080p, the HomeBase can store more footage of the Eufycam 2 than it can of the Eufy Video Doorbell that has a 2K resolution. Most of the time, though, it takes just a couple seconds, which is great, but it is jarring when you hit one of these spells. Speaking of the Home app, the eufyCam 2C's 2-way audio and floodlight is nowhere to be found in Apple's smart home app at this time. The EufyCam 2's 1/2.8-inch 2-megapixel Sony sensor and glass lens capture nice-quality 1080p daylight videos, but I was disappointed in the night videos. The mobile app (Android 5.0+ and iOS 10.2+) is well-organized and easy to manage, though not as feature-deep as the Arlo app. The one major problem I have with the EufyCam app is the division of motion-detection controls into two separate sections of the app. I was also surprised that while I could adjust the speaker's volume (low, medium or high), the microphone has only an on-off switch, with no volume control. As we’ve already mentioned, the EufyCam 2 Pro comes as a kit with two weatherproof cameras and a base station. The base station, which is relatively compact at 5.11 x 3.07 x 3.07 inches / 13 x 7.8 x 7.8cm (h x w x d), offers 16GB of local storage for footage recorded by the camera. Eufy claims this should suffice for three months' worth of footage, based on 20 events a day, each lasting 30 seconds.
To start off, it’s worth clarifying that the Eufycam 2 is a wireless outdoor camera. It’s IP67 rated to survive below-freezing temperatures and constant deluges of wet and winter weather. It’s an elongated, all-white camera that’s a seriously tough piece of equipment. Thanks to its pretty stellar feature set, the performance of the Eufycam 2 is surprisingly solid... as long as it’s within 60 to 100 feet of the HomeBase. The base station is a compact unit, whose finish is matte white as opposed to the glossy white of the cameras. As well as offering storage space, it also doubles as a Wi-Fi repeater that boosts signal to the cameras.I installed these on monday evening. I and writing this review Wednesday morning. One camera has a dead battery already. After being fully charged. Lasted 36hours. I have 2 cameras in total install. Both have the same settings. Not impressed with the battery. Currently charging the battery and we will see how long it last. The temperature is last 2 days have been around -10 Celsius. Cameras are install outside. On the house. Saskatchewan. Canada As of right now, I have the two EufyCams mounted, the 2K video doorbell, home base, a few windows sensors, and the wireless keypad. Extrapolating our test data, we’re looking at over a year’s worth of battery life from a single charge, supporting Eufy’s claim. That said, it’s obviously a your-mileage-may-vary situation so don’t take our numbers – or Eufy’s – as the absolute, definitive battery life, but this should be able to help you set some expectations.
