Launched by the design house of Antonio Puig in 1994, AQUA QUORUM is classified as a refreshing, spicy, lavender, amber fragrance. coolwater is heavy in the vilet and woody and sea notes this is more of a floral citruss with a bit of aquatic feel.
The overall effect is bracing and invigorating, although if you don't like lavender, stay away - Aqua Quorum has it in spades. I'm surprised mint isn't listed as a note but something minty is surely in the mix, I definitely detect no leather though! I think it's a case where I like lavender for its subtlety, but with Quorum Aqua, that sharp floral scent hits you over the head with it.Manly scent with a bright ozonic grapefruit opening slowly turning to a herbal fresh freesia and lavender beauty, making it a great fresh fougère that represents an aquatic idea without being aquatic. It opens up with aromatic citrus (grapefruit) deliciousness mellowed by geranium, leaving you with a trail of fresh bitterness. Had Polo Sport not come along, this may have been more popular and achieved greater success in fragrance history.
In the midst of freshness, there's a non-persistent sour note that doesn't quite belong, but it is just brief. This is no way even close to cool water… That said this is a very strong scent and cannot even see trying to wear this in summer with hot temps…it would be cloying and overwhelming.
After the minute-long opening (harsh and synthetic but not unbearable) fades Aqua Quorum settles into Bleu de Chanel EdT with the grapefruit turned up and pine replacing sandalwood in the base. If you need to make a choice, even though Polo Sport would be "my" first choice (as I have emotional bonds, being my first ever fragrance) I say go for Aqua Quorum. We take intellectual property concerns very seriously, but many of these problems can be resolved directly by the parties involved. The fragrance levels off evenly and leaves you with a youthful and sporty scent profile (pun intended).
It opens like an over-chlorinated outdoor swimmin’ pool, which I know don’t sound appealin’ but it evokes properly vivid an’ specific scent memories out of me. You know, that metallic combination of grapefruit and lavender that's in Drakkar Noir, Cool Water, Green Irish Tweed, and every laundry product or dish detergent ever made? For me there is something like a fresh bread dough in the dry-down - due to the cardamom note - slightly strange but somehow it works.
However, it is crucial not to be deceived by comparisons to other widely marketed fresh aquatic fougères from the mid-90s.
