About this deal

The second major selling point is its clever adjustability. Known by aficionados as the pillow's loft (front sleepers often like a low loft, while side sleepers prefer a taller position) the Simba Hybrid can be tailored to your exact spec. In this way, it's suitable for everyone, no matter how you sleep. Excellent at regulating heat and seriously comfortable to sleep on, the Hybrid works very hard for its premium price tag. Pillow is free from TCPP, parabens and biocides to aid with recycling, and is manufactured in an IS0 14001 ECO factory. It’s hard not to wax lyrical about this pillow, which is the plumpest and most comfortable down I’ve ever slept on. It’s made from 90 per cent ethically sourced Hungarian goose down and 10 per cent feathers (scan the QR code on your pillow for a fully traceable guide to the manufacturer).

The Simba Hybrid pillow genuinely is better than most other pillows on the market, as it offers unrivalled levels of comfort, support, longevity and temperature control. Its excellent temperature regulation is thanks to Simba’s Stratos technology, which is printed on one side of the pillow. It was inspired by Outlast, a material originally designed for space exploration (NASA uses it in space suits) to help regulate temperature by absorbing, storing and releasing heat. Along with the mesh strip around the edge of the pillow to promote airflow, Stratos helps keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night. Having tested this pillow in a heatwave, I can confirm it works. We found this soft pillow to be light and cloud-like, in a way that's comparative to a down pillow.Removing the cushions to adjust the height is easy, and provides you with a good amount of customisation. Whether you actually want that is another matter: most people know already what height of pillow they prefer. This, however, would be very useful in a guest bedroom, as a way of covering a range of possible guest preferences. From a company that leads the way in mattress technology comes this classic memory foam pillow – with a twist.Removing the foam layers takes a little bit of skill: rather than trying to remove layers one at a time (we found this made it feel like the foam might tear), take all three out of the case in one go, remove the layer you don’t want, and replace the other two together. The pillow does arrive in a bigger box than you might expect, but as we said in our Simba Hybrid Pillow review, it is a big beast, so there's not much to be done about that. First impressions It's within these dinky cubes that the Simba Hybrid Pillow carves out its major selling point as they can be removed (or even added if you want to buy more), to create the sort of customisable sleep experience you can't get anywhere else. The Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow allows you to customise its height by removing one or other of its inner layers. The pillow measures 50 x 70cm, weighs 990g, and made up of a zipped pillow case. Inside are two cushions, filled with siliconised micro elastic fibre (100% polyester). One of these cushions is flat and the other is more bulky.Plus the case itself – which is made of 100g/m3 microfibre woven from polyester – is plush enough to be almost considered a layer in itself. Carrying a travel pillow might seem like more hassle than it’s worth, but you should really consider the impact it could have if you don’t get to sleep on an overnight flight. Taking a travel pillow could mean the difference between having two days of groggy jet lag and feeling spritely on arrival.

Of course, Samsonite is known for its high quality suitcases and having some of the best weekend bags for women on the market, so it's not surprising that the brand makes a reliable travel pillow. Inflatable travel pillows aren't for everyone: they're often hard once they’re full of air, and having to blow them up is inconvenient. But the Samsonite inflatable travel pillow is different. Its clever stopper means it can be inflated by mouth in a matter of seconds, and it won’t deflate as soon as you try to plug it up. And when you do want to deflate it? Removing part of the stopper lets out significant amounts of air extremely fast. The Simba pillow's two-part construction is joined together by a grey mesh stripe along the middle, which aids airflow. The overall impression is a pillow that looks unlike any other – it's hefty, but technical and reassuringly doughy. Flip the pillow over, and there’s a cotton top certified by the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), a non-profit that’s there to improve the lives of the growers and the environment. If you’re fortunate enough to be flying in business, you might not think you need a travel pillow—you’re usually given one along with your bedding on long-haul flights. But those airline pillows aren’t always the best, and who knows how often they’re washed? We recommend you take a Tielle along with you instead. The Hybrid Firm's three inserts allow for an amazing amount of adjustment Credit: Kieran Ahuja Delivery and unboxing To change the height, you simply take out a handful or two of the nanocubes that hide inside a zipped bag within the pillow. There's even a small bag to hold any cubes you don't need. But where it shines is in its ability to be tailored to suit your exact needs and preferences. The idea of customising the sleep experience is a surprisingly simple one, but it's a game-changer when you've tried it. If – like me – you had always assumed that the plushest pillows had a natural down filling, the Simba Hybrid will prove you wrong. It feels as soft as the finest goose down but with the support of memory foam (although the Simba is clear that this isn’t a memory foam pillow per se). It never needs plumping, and I found it much better at keeping me cool than the natural-fill pillows I tried. Given that the filling is synthetic, it is also suitable for people with allergies or sensitive skin.

You know when you go into a fast food chain, and you see the pictures of the food plastered above the tills? It always looks amazing — plump burger buns, verdant lettuce, shatteringly crispy slices of bacon — but, at this point in life, we're all clued up enough to know that what will actually arrive is just a shadow of that (albeit still extraordinarily tasty).

Don't Miss Out!

For traditionalists, we'd recommend the Scooms Hungarian Goose Down pillow. It has a chamber design, with an inner core that's 15% down and 85% feather, and a softer outer chamber that's 89% down and 10% feather. While it may feel a little firm at first it soon settles down into a soft, full pillow that retains its shape and rarely needs plumping. And as an added bonus, both its down and feather are certified ethically sourced as a by-product of the food industry. Achieving the right height for your personal preference is a journey and it took a few nights for me to get it exactly right. Simba offers some guidance for this and suggests removing a certain amount of cubes based on how firm you like your pillow (the more cubes, the firmer the feel), and your sleeping position.

This is one of the most breathable pillows on the United Kingdom market, unlike most memory foam pillows which prevent adequate airflowUltimately, the best type of travel pillow for you depends on your sleeping style—so here's what each type of pillow is best for:
