What we have here is a perfect movie, all it does is entertain, terrify adults and give little kids nightmares all night long. Colour has had a bit of a make over here, and what were previously extremely saturated and brightly lit daylight scenes, have been tamed and lovingly balanced. I'm not going to shame myself with exact details here, but suffice to say, the dialogue is crispy and crystal clear. The only other movie that I can of that has had similar success is the 1999 horror The Blair Witch Project. For those unaware, The Jaws Log is a rather sordid, truthful account of the making of Jaws, from the film's humble beginnings, straight through the rather chaotic and tumultuous shoot.

Theres a lot of behind the scenes footage, and discussion about Spielberg being so young and relatively unknown. Fields only provided short glimpses of the mechanical prop, which in effect allows the mind run wild, filling in the gaps and creating fear purely from our own imagination. Never once does the mix succumb to any major high-end crackles or other distortion, either (the only faint crackles noted were during Hooper's first interactions with Brody).It has forever changed how studios produce and promote movies, with preference and priority to high-concept premises with wide commercial appeal, eventually inviting the attention of major corporations to enter the moviemaking business. The danger with remastering and up-mixing like this is introducing a disparity between the original source sound effects and the new ones.
