About this deal

Listening to this history of these revivalists and how people, communities, nations and the world has been changed by God’s amazing power convicts my heart for not doing more. All those people did amazing things even if some of the things that they said or did weren't super cool you know. Man is incapable of performing good works without the Holy Spirit and certainly cannot bargain with God for purchase of God’s power.

David Livingstone—the explorer who crossed the “unknown continent” and opened the heart of Africa to the gospel. Metacritic gives the film a score of 30 out of 100 based on 29 reviews, indicating "generally unfavorable reviews". In 'God's Generals', Roberts Liardon will help you recapture God's glory with twelve compelling biographies of some of the most powerful ministries to ever ignite the fires of revival. Liardon faithfully chronicles their lives in this work, along with their teachings, their spiritual discoveries, and many revealing photos.

When the author gives his thoughts on each person and their ministry it feels a little self indulgent and not always objective.

Jackson maintains steadfast discipline in his ranks during the battle despite suffering a wound to his left hand from a spent ball. We must be saved, we must be sanctified, but 'tis all through the precious atoning blood of Jesus Christ. The situation was so perfectly set up and the outcome was so perfect that it had to be staged or perhaps it was a real miracle?Meanwhile, Chamberlain makes his transition from teacher to military officer and practices drilling his soldiers and is taught military tactics by Col.

This was a slow read for me, I wouldn't have gotten through it without my passion for revival and love for Jesus. Woodworth concludes that the film, through "judicial omission," presents "a distorted view of the Civil War. It was said of him: "Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit. He began with John Alexander Dowie and to his credit he shared the worldliness of the man but failed to explain that he developed his faith healing strategies by mimicking spiritist mediums, failed to detail all his heresies, but covered his delusional and heretical belief that he was Elijah the prophet. The chapters are well written, and Liardon doesn’t shy away from the negative parts of these religious leaders’ stories.

I definitely recommend this book, and take the good and the bad from each person and build off of them. Seymour, Aimee Semple McPherson, Smith Wigglesworth, and Kathryn Kuhlman are just a few of the charismatic faith leaders you'll meet in this book. From the Apostle Paul to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, from Polycarp to John and Betty Stam, from William Tyndale to victims of ISIS militancy, their inspirational testimonies, acts of courage, and even seasons of doubt both encourage today’s believer and raise awareness for the persecuted church of the twenty-first century.
