The band also released a DVD of their live performance at Elland Road from 24 May where they played to a sold out capacity crowd of 40,000 people. [32] The DVD contains the full set from the home of Leeds United as well as highlights from the Kaiser Chiefs performance for the 2007 BBC Electric Proms. The first single from the album, "Record Collection", was released on 23 May 2019, with "People Know How To Love One Another" released as a second single on 6 June 2019. "Golden Oldies" was released as the third single in October 2019. In July 2004, while still relatively unknown inside the UK, Kaiser Chiefs performed their first festival outside the UK at a festival in Moscow. [14] One of the major factors in the band's breakthrough in 2005 was their involvement in the NME Awards Tour at the beginning of the year. [15] Like Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand before them, their position as opening act proved an influential one, attracting a lot of positive media attention. [12]

Notes

In 2015, they supported the Foo Fighters during the South Africa, South America and Ireland legs of their Sonic Highways World Tour. They also released stand alone single 'Falling Awake' on 27 January 2015 via their YouTube channel.

I love Highroyds, which is taken to a whole new level when you learn that half the band used to attend a school nearby to the psychiatric hospital with the same name. It sets up a fascinating juxtaposition between the youthful madness of a night on the town and the mysterious happenings inside the hospital. It’s hilariously energetic and is the Chiefs at their very best. MCA Music, Inc., B-Unique, Fiction, Polydor, Drowned in Sound, Liberator, Caroline International, ATO

Everything is Average Nowadays wallops Ruby as a single in my view, and it’s easy to nod along at the sentiment that modern leisure only offers a limited shelf life. “A ball and a wall” will always prevail over average, flash-in-a-pan modern pastimes. The band performed a string of best of forest shows in the summer of 2016 as part the Forestry Commission's Forest Live series. Stay Together was toured across Europe in early 2017. In October 2022, the band announced the single "How 2 Dance", which was released on November 4. The song will be part of their upcoming eighth album, titled "Kaiser Chiefs' Easy Eighth Album", [54] produced by Nile Rodgers and Amir Amor. [57] Other appearances [ edit ] This effect intensifies over a whole album. So Yours Truly, Angry Mob ends up a bit like those new-fangled surgical stitches which melt away into your flesh when their work is done, only in reverse. It starts out inchoate and hard to put your finger on, then coalesces into something wiry and unshakable. And therein lies a problem with Yours Truly, Angry Mob. Every song on Employment felt worthy, whereas Yours Truly, Angry Mob offers a fair share of Kaiser Chief cookie-cutters. Heat Dies Down, Thank You Very Much, Learnt My Lesson Well (fun lyrics aside) are all mildly pleasant but pedestrian to the extent that they rob the band of their personality. Cut these three out and you’d have a fairly commendable album, which is further strengthened by some admirable departures from the Kaiser Chief formula. Love’s Not A Competition (But I’m Winning) musically recalls The Smiths, even if the vocal melody is a bit disjointed, while Try Your Best is a tad meandering, but an applaudable change of pace. Their UK hit singles include 2004 and 2005 number 9 hit " I Predict a Riot", 2007 UK number 1 hit " Ruby", which has sold over 461,000 copies, [10] from their platinum album Yours Truly, Angry Mob plus a further two Top 20 singles in 2007 with " The Angry Mob" and " Everything Is Average Nowadays". Their singles " Ruby", " I Predict a Riot", " Everyday I Love You Less and Less", " Never Miss a Beat" and " Oh My God" had sold a combined total of 1.1 million up to August 2012.
