Shooting enemies with your ink weapons knock them out of the fight for a short time, letting you spread your team's color without interference. This means you’ll need to be that much more alert to the status of your team and the terrain, and finding a safe spot to check the map overlay took some getting used to. There are places to stylishly grind on ink-rails like a squid version of Tony Hawk, and elsewhere you can lure giant, ink-vacuuming Squee-G robots into your enemies’ path. Like its prequel, Splatoon 2 is a third-person shooter game focused on online multiplayer battles, in which eight players are divided into two teams of four.

Gone are the myriad different Special Weapons that provide invulnerability, gone is the need to use a second screen; instead, everything has been streamlined so that your focus is never away from the action.

And yes, when this rotation occurs you will be booted from any party or group you may be in, but instead of being shown the arguably tedious newsflash with the arguably wonderful Squid Sisters, you’re just thrown back to the Lobby ready to start all over again without missing a beat. So ranked mode is more of the same, which is by no means a bad thing, but I would have liked to seen them add at least one new ranked mode. By exchanging a ticket you can receive a buff that increases your experience or coins earned in online battles, as well as increasing the likelihood of grabbing the sub ability you want for your gear.
