The vampire stuff felt like an afterthought to try to make the plot seem unique. Vampires don’t automatically add razzle dazzle! You need to also provide the razzle and the dazzle! There wasn’t any lore and you’re kinda just like boom vampires exist which works sometimes…but it didn’t here. I could’ve maybe ignored it for super interesting character development and plot…but there wasn’t any. Cassie Greenberg needs a new place to live, and fast. When she finds an affordable apartment in a beautiful neighbourhood, she knows there must be a catch.

I think this was an absolutely enjoyable, fresh, and lighthearted debut. I sense from the open ending that more sequels may come out!The relationship development was nicely written, I enjoyed it a lot. And their letters to each other!!😫 This is as cute as it was made out to be. It understandably isn't perfect since it's a debut novel (you need to give the author time to grow), but it is delightfully funny, sweet, and romantic. The number of times I laughed and awed is countless. However, those little flaws scattered here and there irritated me a little at times. There are several cringe lines and banal romantic moments, some questionable decisions that made me roll my eyes so hard I gave myself a headache, and basic writing.

As I already mentioned, the romance between Cassie and Freddie is a bit cliché, with a ton of cheesy lines throughout the book, but it is still sweet, spicy, and largely uneventful. I am all for complicated situations and intense conflicts, but sometimes I just want something simple and easily resolved. It relaxes me and makes me happy.
