About this deal

My front garden doesn’t have any slopes, but there are lawns all over the UK that do. If this sounds like your garden then you’ll be pleased to know that the LawnMaster VBRM16 can handle inclines up to 35%. This is comparable to the range of Flymo and WORX robotic mowers. Charge and Mow Time SPOT CUT FUNCTION: for a neat finish, use the additional spiral spot cut function on any uncut grass. If you’re a fan of LawnMaster then you’ll be pleased to hear that the LawnMaster VBRM16 comes with a 24v 4.0Ah battery that is part of the MX24 range and can be power shared with other tools in this range. These tools include lawnmowers, hedge trimmer, grass trimmers, chain saws & leaf blowers.

The LawnMaster VBRM16 OcuMow™ robotic mower is part of the LawnMaster MX 24V shared battery system and is available to buy without the battery and charger.READ NEXT: Our guide to the best robot lawnmowers to buy LawnMaster L10 review: What do you get for the money? Additional batteries can extend running time (sold separately). Battery duration depends on lawn conditions. It’s also worth noting that the cutting disc below the mower doesn’t extend right to its edges, so you’re going to end up with a strip of uncut grass on the outside edge of your lawn. To be fair, this happens to some extent with all robot mowers, even those that claim to cut-to-edge.

As I mentioned, I tried this machine out on my 100m² front lawn and within three hours, it had as good as completed the entire thing with power to spare. Typically, you’ll get around four hours out of a single charge, but this does depend on the conditions such as whether there are any slopes or how bumpy the ground is. The downside of the LawnMaster VBRM16’s unwillingness to traverse anything that isn’t grass is that it wasn’t brilliant around bare patches. I have a fairy ring in my grass that fared particularly badly over the hot summer of 2022 and hasn’t managed to recover, leaving bare patches in the lawn. When the mower approached these, it stopped and avoided them. If it was a flower bed I’d be thankful for it but it’s worth noting that the patchier your lawn, the harder it will be for the Lawnmaster VBRM16 to navigate it successfully. For safety, the mower detects and avoids obstacles using the camera and ultrasonic sensors. It also features a safety key preventing use by children, and sensors which stop the blades when the machine is lifted. Those looking for neater edges will be better served by the Worx Landroid M500 Plus WR165E. This needs perimeter wire and a base station to be installed but its off-set blade is capable of cutting as close to the edge of the grass as a robot mower can safely be allowed. Its cutting schedule can be controlled by a smartphone app and it can manage a lawn of up to 500m2.Instead, when you first get the robot, you only need to charge the removable battery using the separate charging unit. It comes partially charged and I found it was fully charged within 30 minutes. Remove it from the charger and slot it into the cavity on the rear of the mower, and it’s good to go. The battery should last around three hours and only takes an hour to charge from empty. If you’re new to the idea of using a robot mower then I understand that you’ll likely have a lot of questions. This guide is designed to introduce you to the robotic lawn mower and give you some tips on finding the right product for you. What Is A Robotic Lawn Mower And How Does It Work? The LawnMaster L10 is unusual among robot lawnmowers in that it doesn’t give you much control. As with most robot mowers around this price, it follows a random pattern around your lawn, using the principle that if it keeps mowing it will cover the entire lawn eventually. For more information on adapting your lawn to get the best performance from the VBRM16 OcuMow™, see our video guide and FAQ.

There are a few undulations on my lawn where the EasyMow ended up with its nose at the bottom of a dip and didn’t quite have the clearance to get up the other side. If it grounds itself like this it tends to reverse, turn and head off in a different direction.I tested the LawnMaster VBRM16 on my front lawn and was really pleased with the results and how well this machine worked. It was simple and easy to use, has a great run time and is overall a well made and impressive piece of garden equipment. John Deere is actually an agricultural brand but they do make robotic lawn mowers including the Tango E5.
