MKUltra is a US vendor that truly fills all the gaps other vendors simply don’t offer and is continuing to expand their switch and switch related peripherals by the day. We use USB HID with the highest frequency of 1000Hz polling rate, meaning the keyboard is sending its input signal(s) to your PC 1000 times per second. As for the ‘scratchiness’ of the tactile bump, I have previously referred to this phenomenon as ‘singular’ versus ‘grainy’ feeling tactile bumps, in which this would definitely fall under the grainer side.

Worth noting here, though, is that the mechanism of these stems operates slightly differently than traditional expectations of those who have not explored the Box mechanism prior. And because of this I would personally recommend a harder (or less universal) plate when building with these switches. Historical implications aside, I hope this mechanism and creativity continue to see further improvements and iterations even if not the greatest now. On the left-hand side there is a single number mold marking facing inwards and on the right-hand side there is a number and letter code facing externally, assumedly used in marking molds or machines used to make the bottom housings. Now, the build went much as expected except when it came to the more open portions of the plate, being manufactured in a softer material (I believe the plate was Delron, which is similar to acrylic but with a bit more flex).

This 3-Pin switch's base is engineered with a hollowed-out light position design to offer SMD-LED light compatibility and incorporates an MX stem structure to be compatible with most mechanical keyboards on the market. With regard to the intended sound of the Box Mute Jades, they are hardly recognizable as a ‘muted jade’ when comparing the two switches.

But hey, as I’ve said before, this just makes the perceived time between new switch releases all that faster – and I sure damn well enjoy my new switch releases. With even these slightly sharper variants having their own range in sharpness as well, it does point to perhaps some systemic manufacturing issues leading to a pretty wide degree of variability in the Mute Box Jade switches. The Kailh Box Jades were my second major mechanical keyswitch, the first being the Outemu Blue in my previous E-Element Z-88 mechanical keyboard. Divinikey has been a huge help to me and my builds over the last year or two of doing reviews and they’ll definitely hook you up.But it did perform beautifully throughout my testing and I’d be happy to give them another run with more games.

Regardless, we highly recommend Mechbox for your switch needs, and encourage you to support Mechbox. You must download the “EZ WAY” real-name authentication APP (Android download/ iOS download) on mobile phone and perform the online authentication registration. As well, the noted point above about slight improvements in stem wobble between the Mute Jades and Box Jades also appears to hold true here as well.The first and most obvious difference is the LED slot, which is entirely covered by a rather thick, flat plane of nylon rather than the tiered or open style LED slots of many other modern switches. The first thing I noticed was that the Navies had a much more cushioned feel to them and the Jades had a more pronounced tactile bump (I would attribute this to the differences in the spring weights as generally speaking a lighter spring allows the bump to be more pronounced). The next announcement regarding the status of the Box Mute Jade switches skipped entirely over the hopeful October deadline and landed on November 23rd, 2021 with Novelkeys’ “Updates with Mike | Fall 2021” announcement. Falling very much in line with other previous Box switch releases, these have a noticeable but not overwhelming amount of stem wobble that will likely not bother anyone who chooses to use them.
