( June 2023) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message) For the next two weeks, the trio and the cat travel to Olivia's mother's homebase to retrieve supplies and a plane. After arriving, they sneak in, however the cat starts making noises, which alerts one of the residents who Clementine swiftly punches out. Olivia slides a letter under the door of her mother's room and they all go to the hangar to retrieve the plane. They fly out just as several residents attempt to catch them. Watching out the window is Olivia and Georgia's mother, who is revealed to have died and turned. Clementine looks over the land and asks Olivia to fly over Vermont to show Amos the plane one last time. The trilogy marks the graphic novel debut of Clementine, star of the massively successful Telltale Games video game. Right before his death, Tim tells Georgia not to let Olivia go. Georgia takes this to heart after finding out Amos was planning on leaving with Olivia.

So I am not the ideal reviewer of this series for a number of reasons; 1) I am seemingly one of the few comics readers in the world who has not read The Walking Dead (okay, maybe two volumes, then I stopped) nor seen the tv series; 2) I am not a gamer, so have no familiarity with the Telltale Walking Dead video game featuring Clementine, though I have become aware of the controversy about ripping out the hearts of all players who liked how the Clementine game had (previously) ended, and 3) I am not really a fan of zombie comics. Matulef, Jeffrey (June 12, 2016). "The Walking Dead Season 3 revealed". Eurogamer. Archived from the original on June 14, 2016 . Retrieved June 12, 2016. As friendship, rivalry, and romance begin to blossom amongst the group, the harsh winter soon reveals that the biggest threat to their survival...might be each other. The Final Season is the closure of Clementine's narrative arc in the series. Some years after the events of A New Frontier, Clementine and AJ, who is now a young boy, are traveling on their own. After stumbling into a walker horde, they are rescued by Marlon, the leader of a group of children from the abandoned Ericson boarding school. Clementine uses her time in the school to get to know the other children while helping them for sustainability and protection. Eventually, Clementine finds out that Marlon traded two of the school's residents, twin sisters Minerva and Sophie, to a group of raiders that threatened the school in exchange for safety and intends to do the same with her and AJ should they return. Clementine pressures Marlon to reveal the truth to the other kids, only for him to be shot and killed by AJ. The Sunday Herald (May 13, 2012). "The rebirth of gaming". HighBeam Research. As always, Walden's art is gorgeous (even with the zombies).

As they flee, Kenny's girlfriend Sarita is bit by a walker and dies. When they regroup, Kenny is distraught and refuses to talk to anyone, but he is convinced to help Rebecca give birth to her baby, which is later named Alvin Jr. or AJ. Jane takes interest in Clementine, and like Lee before, helps to teach her some survival skills. The group continues northward despite Rebecca's worsening health. They are ambushed by a group of Russian immigrants, leading to a Mexican standoff. Clementine sees that Rebecca has succumbed to exhaustion and blood loss from the birth, has died but is now re-animating as a walker, and she or Kenny are forced to shoot her to save AJ. This sets off the gunfight, but the group manages to kill the other Russians, and they force the sole Russian survivor, named Arvo, to take them to shelter. "The Walking Dead: Telltale's Clementine to Make Her Comic Book Debut in Skybound X". IGN . Retrieved April 13, 2021. Now, I will say, there are many elements that are fun, and some moments that I would've liked to see in a setting like this. One of which being at the beginning with the Amish community (literally first-chapter stuff, so not too spoilery). Unfortunately though, we never do explore that community enough to get a sense as to how an Amish community functioned within an apocalypse. Like, what advantages did they have? What disadvantages? That's not really answered. Like the other cool concepts, it's thrown in there to be immediately brushed past for the next thing. I thought that Tillie Walden did a great job with Clementine: Book One. I can't wait to read the next book in the series and see where Clementine's travels take her next. I don’t know, something in me changed after I got bit. I ignored it for a while but it keeps growing. This idea that I...I was going to live. And not just day by day like I had been. I could live for months...years...that I might be an adult someday, like my mom was. I don't know why but it scared me so much. So much that it felt like I couldn’t breathe.”Then, it becomes clear that this zombie world makes sense for Walden: Teens on a road to recovery (from trauma) and self-discovery. They don’t know who they are, and they don’t know what their relationships are to each other. So it’s YA lit. And on the representation front, key for Walden, it still involves lesbian teens, adding Clementine as disabled, and. . . a boy (!), Amos, who’s Amish, on Rumspringa, so they’re all “on the road to find out” (Cat Stevens). Campbell, Colin (8 May 2012). "The Walking Dead: Why Lee Everett Really Matters". IGN. Ziff Davis, LLC. Archived from the original on 20 October 2012 . Retrieved 7 December 2012. They travel together for nine days and finally arrive at the base of the mountain, where they are met with twin sisters who won't tell them their names. Clementine doesn't trust them and tells Amos she's staying with him. They ride a ski lift to the top where they meet a girl named Ricca. She informs Clem that she's been calling the twin with the ponytail Right, and the twin with her down Left. The twins tell them that they only have a cabin and shed left standing from last winter and that they want to build three new structures and a cleared road by the end of winter. They all settle down in the cabin for the night but are woken up by an avalanche hitting their cabin, putting a hole in their roof. McElroy, Griffon (2014-03-08). "Telltale describes the difficulty of starting over in The Walking Dead Season Two". Polygon. Archived from the original on 2014-03-12 . Retrieved 2014-03-08. Clementine is woken up the next morning by an Amish boy named Amos heading off on his Rumspringa. She chases after him and alerts him that walkers are behind him. After killing the walkers with his axe, Amos asks Clementine where she is headed. She tells him she is travelling north and he informs her he is also travelling north. They travel together and Amos reveals that he is going to Killington in Vermont to build a homestead on the mountain where he will be awarded with a plane ride after the job is completed. They travel together in Amos' buggy into the night where they hear people calling for help, Amos helps the family into his buggy and Clementine drives them all to safety. While Clementine is asleep, one of the people they saved tries to assault Clementine. She holds a knife to his head and then stomps on his hand with her prosthetic foot before leaving. Amos chases after Clementine on his horse and asks her to come with him to Vermont.
