About this deal

Compatibility: Make sure to choose a case that's specifically designed for the Pixel 7 to ensure a proper fit and easy access to all ports, buttons, and features. Pixel 6 cases do not fit the Pixel 7, bear that in mind.

We are fans of the design, fast performance and clutter-free software, and even though the battery isn't stunning it's one of the best all-rounders that you can buy – more affordable than the Samsung S23, better specs than the entry-level iPhones and more powerful than any other Pixel. Battery life on the Google Pixel 7 is improved due to the addition of Google's upgraded Tensor G2 chip. On paper, stats boffins may look at the processor and see a relatively minor upgrade, but it has benefits for machine learning and efficiency. There’s nothing as fancy as the iPhone 14’s new Dynamic Island, but there’s no big notch, either. We're frequently impressed with how effective the camera system is for day-to-day use, in any type of lighting. The company did mention that all cameras can now record at up to 4K resolution at 60fps, and this makes a huge difference to video quality, especially if you often record using the selfie camera. A new feature called Dual allows you to record video on both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, too. Magic Eraser mode is used to remove small unwanted details from photos, too, and it works just as well as the previous models. It’s very good at removing one or two people from your snaps, but don’t expect it to work on a crowd. We don't find ourselves using the modes too much on daily use, but we appreciate they are there, just in case. You'll get a little over a day of battery out of the 7 Pro – though with heavier use plus the refresh rate and display resolution maxed out it's likely to be a bit less. We got ourselves into a routine of charging the phone (and the Pixel Watch) every night without issues. The Google Pixel 7 is rated at a maximum charging speed of 30W and, in my testing, I found it went from zero to 50% in just over 30 minutes. It also supports 20W wireless charging via any Qi-compatible charger and it can reverse power share with other devices such as the Google Pixel Buds Pro. It can’t charge the new Pixel Watch, though, since that devices doesn’t support wireless charging. Google Pixel 7 review: Display We live in a world where you can buy the Pixel 7a, so we'd still go with that if you want most of what's great about a Pixel at a lower price. In continuation of a good work, Google is now working on their latest series – the Pixel 7 – which will aim to bring more improvements while retaining the good-old affordable price. Among these are the new Tensor 2 chipset, which will boost processing powers of both Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, better displays, improved cameras, etc. We could unfortunately see very distorted edges around some objects in our test clips. This could be fixed by Google magic in a software update, but that's yet to happen at the time of writing this update in May 2023. Pixel 7 Pro: Software

There aren’t many battery cases for Pixel 7 phones on the market so far. The phone is due to come out later this year, with late October or early November being considered. As the time passes by, we will surely stumble upon some battery cases but whether they will be as good as the i-Blades one or not remains to be seen. It’s great to see the refresh rate goes up to 120Hz (it’s up to 90Hz on the standard 7 and still a measly 60Hz on the iPhone 14) and swiping through our apps and menus is consistently smooth. It feels high-end. You can change both the resolution and the refresh rate in the settings – and lowering them is a good way of saving battery.Another choice from OtterBox, this defender series case is a must-have for those desiring the ultimate level of protection, assuming you aren't put off by the extortionately high price. Tested and approved to withstand 4 times as many drops as the official military standard, you can rest assured that your new Google Pixel 7 Pro will be protected to the extreme with this case. The display has rounded edges that work to keep the bezels much smaller than the 7a, but we warn you: this is one slippy phone. You'll need a case or it will try to escape your grasp at every opportunity – even if it's just sitting on a flat surface like your desk. We're loving the Mous Limitless 5.0. Google Pixel 7 Pro display OtterBox is a renowned phone case brand that delivers only the best quality, and most importantly protective, cases on the market. This clear case offering is from the company's Symmetry series, designed to be protective and show off your smartphone's original design and color, without any yellowing over time. If you love having lots of files, movies, music or podcasts on your phone, it's important to note that the Pixel 7 Pro doesn't come with expandable storage. You are limited to 128GB, 256GB or 512GB unless you pay for extra cloud space, but honestly, we've had no issues with space. Most of our documents are handled in the cloud, and entertainment is enjoyed via streaming. On test, the battery went from dead to 50% full in around 30-40 minutes with a 30W wall charger (yes, like other flagships these days there's no adapter in the box, just the USB-C cable). That's acceptable, but not exceptional.

From the outside, it might look like there's little difference between the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 7. The G2 processor increases efficiency and performance – but also helps to power the suite of futuristic editing modes. The Photo Unblur mode is a new one. It cleans up messy images if your subject was caught moving – and it definitely sharpens a blurry selfie, but doesn't completely salvage the image. Google boasts about faster performance for low-light photos, the "unblur" feature to fix dodgy snaps and better on-device speech recognition (we tried its transcribing feature and that's also superb). If you're looking into buying a Pixel smartphone, it's safe to say you probably care a lot about how good it is for photography. We're always snapping away on our phones too, and the good news is that this is yet another brilliant Google camera driven by software. The only letdown is cinematic video. It's not a feature that we use much, but there's visible distortion around some objects in the videos when tested. It was true six months ago, and it remains true today. Google Pixel 7 Pro software and performanceGoogle isn't reinventing the wheel with the Pixel 7. It's a polished and refined upgrade to 2021's Pixel 6. The good news is that we already highly recommend that variant and its cheaper sibling, the Pixel 6a, and that remains the case when it comes to the newest model, and its new affordable companion, the Pixel 7a. And even though it's affordable for a flagship, anyone on a budget should probably be looking at the cheaper Pixel 7a instead. Google Pixel 7 Pro verdict We used one that displays the battery life of connected devices – so we could always manage the fuel in our phone, Pixel Watch and wireless earbuds. We got ourselves into a nice routine of charging the phone and watch every night and accepted that the dream of a two-day battery wasn’t one that would come true.
