About this deal

The 3” whip enables the Venomblood to fight at a greater distance. While nowhere near as killy as the Spear-armed variant, the whip is a good applicator of Paralysing Venom. Smear toxins across your lash and give the enemy a taste from behind the safety of a Chaff screen. Gladiator’s Net (Double, Pit Fighter with Net):On a 3+ an enemy within 3″ cannot move or disengage for the rest of the battle round. They also have access to the Triple ability Readied Stance which adds half the value of the Triple to their Toughness until the end of the battle round. Since they already have a Toughness of 5, this is usually a bit overkill, but in a pinch it can be used to survive the onslaught of Strength 6 enemies. Pit Veteran with Dual Weapons: 105 points Look at the big hitters you have available, and what abilities you have that boost either damage or strength in combat. If you don’t have access to strength 5, what do you have for damage output? Do you have large numbers instead of it? Does your warband go for whittling down with ranged weapons, or board control, or something else to replace punching really hard? The Chaos Lord on foot and on Manticore are both solid. The Manticore has a good anti-horde spell while on foot has a great buff spell and is cheap to boot, despite a recent cost increase. The slaves to Darkness spell lore is very good so you’ll probably bring at least one of these guys.

They have been raised as fighters in the pits of the Varanspire, and have spent their whole lives trying to catch the attention of Archaon with their victories in battle. The only shortcoming here is the meager 10 wounds, do not let the enemy outnumber you or the plan will crumble The Pit Veteran with Dual Weapons is an alternative build option for one of the Pit Veterans with Shield. Chaos Chariot ( Gorebeast Chariot) - Chaos Chosen - Chaos Knight - Chaos Marauder ( Horseman - War Mammoth) - Chaos Warrior - Chaos Warshrine - Fomoroid Crusher - Mindstealer Sphiranx - Ogroid TheridonHere you can see how I painted what I think is the coolest model in the warband: The Bestigor Destroyer. This also defines the way the Spire Tyrants look as a warband: they don’t style themselves after an animal God or a specific element, but are quite varied in appearance with the only common trait being their Spire Tyrants symbol on their belts and some vaguely Chaos Warrior-esque armor. Where every other Warcry Chaos warband calls one of the eight Mortal Realms their home, the Spire Tyrants’ homeland is the Eightpoints itself. He has the same statistics profile as the Pit Fighter with Punch Dagger, but with 1 less damage on critical hit.

Here we go, the Venombloods. These units in all their variations are the REAL combat threats compared to the Pureblood. This model can also be equipped with a Spear instead of a Whip which is my preference. Hooh boy, now this is a quad. A quad 6 spent on this on say, a Serpent, will result in the on average 1 Crit it does to 10 DAMAGE. If it Crits twice? No need to even roll to see if they’re paralysed, they’re straight up dead. Chaos Familiar - Chaos Spawn - Curs'd Ettin - Daemonic Mount - Gorebeast - Karkadrak - Manticore - Mutalith Vortex Beast - Raptoryx - Slaughterbrute The additional allies are available to the Chaos bands (yet another thing pushing people into playing Chaos) in the form of four cool Warcry kits (that are now also medium monsters in the Slaves to Darkness AoS army) and let you take something a bit smaller than a monster, with a bunch of abilities and a really cool model. These are essentially centrepiece models for your band and cheaper in points and less ability hungry than the big monsters. We’re going to eschew Archaon as he changes the dynamic significantly and look at a variety of options that lay open to you as a Slaves to Darkness warlord. Allegiance: Slaves to Darkness

Note: if you haven’t read the basic rules for Warcry before reading this article, it might be helpful to know that the game’s abilities are activated by using 6 dice that you roll at the start of your turn. Generally speaking, Nurgle tends to pull ahead mathematically. All Nurgle heroes grant Reroll 1s to wound, and as wound buffs are harder to come by you generally want them when you can get them. If its your general it gives a +1 to damage. Ouch! Khorne has some value as a General, allowing you to reroll 1s to hit or +1 to wound if its your general. Slaanesh is pretty limited and Undivided and Tzeentch can go in the dumpster.

Three objectives are on the table, and at the end of the first round the players roll off and the winner removes an objective and at the end of the second round they do this again. At the end of the fourth round, whoever holds the objective wins.If you want more Pit Veterans with Dual Weapons, it’s not that difficult to replace their shields with weapon arms from some of the other warbands, but if you want to build a more specialized warband, I would recommend buying two boxes so you can focus more on Spear-wielding pit fighters to take advantage of enemies trapped by the net of the other Pit Fighter, or to field more Headclaimers. There are fun alternatives like Hosts of the Everchosen if you want to run a hyper elite army of Archaon with all Varanguard. You do have options. Continuing the trend set in Issue 467 with the Sons of Behemat, we got another Tome Celestial that offers expanded rulesets for Open, Narrative and Matched Play for an army while they wait for an update in the form of a new Battletome. Then I reapplied all of those colors everywhere but the recesses and where I wanted the colors to be darker. Use the Triple you would spend on this on literally anything besides this. Inspiring Presence from the generic abilities will always be a better ability than this.
