About this deal

Nobody missed me even when I was alive. Took them hours and hours to find my body — I know, I was sitting there waiting for them. Olive Hornby came into the bathroom — 'Are you in here again, sulking, Myrtle?' she said, 'because Professor Dippet asked me to look for you —' And then she saw my body..." — Myrtle regarding the finding of her body [src]

Given that Harry’s parents are most famous for dying in defense of their son, it would have been obvious to include frightened or angry looks for the alternate expressions. But despite the darkness of the story, it’s laudable that LEGO chose to portray them in their happiest moments. It’s a poignant counter to the evil that we all know eventually befalls them. In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Myrtle mentioned to Harry that she briefly spotted some Polyjuice Potion in the drains and asked him if he had been doing any more illicit brewing, which he denied. Had Harry investigated Myrtle's suspicions, it might have been discovered much earlier that Barty Crouch Jnr was impersonating Alastor Moody. This did not happen in the book.

Tom Riddle's Diary

On 31 October 1992, Myrtle was again invited to Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington's Deathday Party, this time being his five-hundredth deathday. During the event, Myrtle was called by Peeves to meet Hermione Granger, who had previously talked about how awful it was to go to the bathroom that she resided in. She believed Hermione was making fun of her and started crying, and when she tried to say nice things about her, Myrtle's crying turned hysterical and she demanded Hermione not to lie to her. At this moment, however, Peeves also angered her with his comment of her being 'spotty', and she fled the room with Peeves pelting mouldy peanuts after her. [6] Depending on the month she was born in, she may have been in the same year as Gryffindor Rubeus Hagrid, who was accused of killing her with his Acromantula Aragog. Possibly related to the 'Moaning Minnie,' the British name for a German WWII artillery shell that made a distinctive moaning whine before it hit.

Myrtle remembered only having seen a pair of enormous yellow eyes, but neither Harry nor Ron recognised this as a clue that the monster was a Basilisk. Hermione had already deduced the monster's nature by library research before she was Petrified, so Myrtle's clue was of no practical importance. However, her presence in the bathroom, combined with Hermione's clue about the Basilisk's use of pipes, did single the bathroom out as the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. [3] Not long after, Harry killed the Basilisk using Godric Gryffindor's sword, avenging Myrtle's death. Pull the chain then jump down. Move on to the next room. It is possible she was given the middle name Elizabeth and surname Warren as a reference to two characters from Arthur Miller's The Crucible: Elizabeth Proctor and her young servant Mary Warren, both of which are accused of being witches at some point. Hit her when she appears. Do this four times in total. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 Walkthrough - Lego Harry-Potter-Years-1-4 476 In 1938, Tom Riddle (later known by the alias "Lord Voldemort") started his education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In his fifth year, he learned of his Slytherin ancestry and discovered the existence and entrance to the Chamber of Secrets and tamed the Basilisk which dwelt within. However, while Hermione is saved by a repentant Ron and Harry, Myrtle is killed by the unfeeling Riddle.

At The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Moaning Myrtle haunts the bathrooms, though only her voice is heard. [34] Sip the potion once again, then ascend the ledges to the right end balcony. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 Walkthrough - Lego Harry-Potter-Years-1-4 491 The true importance of Myrtle's bathroom was that it contained the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, the home of the Basilisk of Salazar Slytherin. In the 1992–1993 school year, the chamber was opened again, fifty years after its previous opening, by a Gryffindor first-year, Ginny Weasley, who was possessed by the diary of the earlier opener, Tom Riddle. [14] After Mrs Norris was Petrified by the Basilisk just outside Myrtle's bathroom, Hermione came with Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley to investigate. Myrtle said she wasn't paying attention at the time due to wanting to kill herself because of Peeves's snarky comment earlier. [9] Myrtle later flooded her bathroom in a fit of pique when Ginny tried to dispose of the diary by flushing it down the toilet in Myrtle's stall. [4] Shirley Henderson's first scene in the film Bridget Jones's Diary involves her character, Jude, crying in a women's toilets. The inspiration for Moaning Myrtle was the frequent presence of a crying girl in communal bathrooms, especially at the parties and discos of my youth. This does not seem to happen in male bathrooms, so I enjoyed placing Harry and Ron in such uncomfortable and unfamiliar territory in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ." — J. K. Rowling on her inspiration for Moaning Myrtle [src]If you’ve just read a lengthy review of 16 Harry Potter minifigures, it’s likely that you’re a LEGO Harry Potter fan. And if you’re a LEGO Harry Potter fan, this is an excellent series that you’ll want to collect. There are a few figures that might not be worth spending the dough; this version of Harry Potter is extremely forgettable and you won’t miss it. You may also not need another version of Ron or Hermione, though the butterbeer mugs might make it worthwhile. The same goes for Ginny and her dish of questionable hors d’oeuvres. Pretty much all of the other figures, however, are excellent and represent rarely seen or totally new characters or include great new additions like Fawkes and the Monster Book of Monsters. Use magic on the painting, the wizard will throw the platform plate to you. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 Walkthrough - Lego Harry-Potter-Years-1-4 495
