This special is about twenty-five minutes long, but a 5-minute version exists with completely new footage; considering a number of differences with the final special, this was most likely a pitch pilot produced to get the feature greenlit. This is the first episode to feature Antonio Conde in the original version and Andy Benedict in the restored version, both as the composers.

In the redubbed version, only the original first two Noot Noots were heard, but the last Noot Noot was rerecorded. This is one of the only times any of Pingu's dialogue from the original is retained, as usually all his lines would be rerecorded in the redubs for consistency.
