About this deal

However, when knowing someone name or having a close relationship, Japanese people don’t use あなた as above, they have rule of calling someone name. Kanji Practice: Writing and reading exercises to help learners practice and reinforce their understanding of the Kanji characters covered in the lessons. Therefore, if you want to use Minna no Nihongo for N5, it is necessary for you to get the syllabus of what you need for N5. With this, you can structure your readings to suit the things that the test requires. This can go a long way in determining whether you will pass the exam or not. The most popular edition is, of course, the English version. This study guide is intended to complement the Minna No Nihongo Beginner I Main textbook Second Edition. This version includes vocabulary, translations for sentence patterns, example sentences, conversations, reference vocabulary, and concise grammar explanations. The English edition facilitates understanding and promotes smooth learning progress for non-Japanese native speakers.

Having explained that this book is enough for N5, let’s talk more about it. Minna no Nihongo is one of the most common textbooks for individuals that are studying the Japanese language. This series of books is often recommended by most teachers and schools along with the well-known Genki book series. The publisher of this series is Three A Network, which is also behind the publication of the New Kanzen Master. It is widely adopted by most language schools in Japan; therefore, you will likely come across Minna no Nihongo during your journey of preparing for N5. I’ve been going through MNN but when I look online for tips and advice while studying Japanese a lot of people refer / mention the genki textbooks. I appreciate this article for explaining the differences and I have enjoyed my experience with MNN so far. The university I attended used this series, and I can confirm it will help with all areas of Japanese. If you don’t want to rely on only Minna no Nihongo to pass JLPT N5, there are other resources you can use or combine with this book. These resources include: There are two beginner-level (shokyu) volumes that roughly correlate to A1–A2 or N5–N4 and two intermediate-level (chokyu) volumes that should take up to N2. Each textbook contains 25 chapters and will teach you grammar, vocabulary, and more. They also come with a CD.In classroom settings, Minna no Nihongo has proven successful, used by language teachers and students worldwide. The series supports learners through various levels, from beginner to intermediate. Its popularity in the classroom can be attributed to the comprehensive coverage of essential topics and the practical approach to learning through daily conversations. Again, Genki is more concise while the Minna no Nihongo series offers you a whole variety of materials to study, practice, and specialize.

On the other hand, the Genki series offers a more balanced approach to learning Japanese, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Genki tends to be more user-friendly for complete beginners, incorporating English instructions and explanations within the textbooks. This makes it easier to access information without consulting additional resources. The series is divided in two levels : Shokyu (Beginner) and Chukyu (Intermediate) while each level itself is divided in two levels : Shokyu 1 & 2 and Chukyu 1 & 2. This book also has an extra textbook that is entirely dedicated to teaching kanji characters. In addition, it comes with 8 workbooks. Using the workbooks, you can practice many of the things you have learned in the book. Resultantly, you can improve your understanding of the Japanese language significantly if you can get Minna no Nihongo. Grammar Practice: Exercises focusing on sentence structures and the correct usage of grammar points introduced in the main textbook lessons. For beginners in self-study, the choice between Minna no Nihongo and other textbooks, such as Genki, may be challenging. Although Genki is slightly more accessible for self-study due to its format and teacher-independent learning approach, Minna no Nihongo can also work for self-study if the learner is determined and understands Japanese writing systems.Furthermore, for students specifically seeking guidance on Minna no Nihongo’s first lesson, the Reddit community LearnJapanese offers a discussion on useful resources and tips. In this thread, experienced learners are more than willing to provide support, making it a valuable place to seek advice and share experiences. The 3 previous lessons had shown all the writing system of Japanese language. In this lesson learners will be study the first lesson. The lesson 1 will introduce some vocabularies, structures which are used in daily life. After finished the lesson, learners have to remember all the common vocabularies and structures. I totally agree. I started with Genki but moved onto MNN and have found it a far better experience. Perhaps that’s just because I prefer slightly dryer, more “textbook-y” textbooks. That being said if you’re going to go down the MNN route the workbooks are a must, as in all of them! Minna no Nihongo is a widely recognized Japanese language textbook series renowned for its practical teaching approach in classrooms and for individual learners worldwide. With a focus on essential grammar, vocabulary, listening, and speaking skills, the series aims to instill comprehensive language proficiency in students through engaging in situational daily conversations. Hiragana and Katakana: These foundational components of the Japanese writing system are introduced in a structured manner, providing learners with ample practice to become proficient.

Uw opmerking omtrent de veronderstelling van enige voorkennis is een beetje ontmoedigend. Daarentegen aan het eind van de rit is er als vanzelf de kennis van Jlpt op meer dan voldoende niveau. Immers mijn doel is om vakliteratuur in het Japans te kunnen lezen. Het kunnen lezen ( en wellicht ook het schrijven) is voor mij dan ook van groter belang dan het spreken. The Minna no Nihongo main textbook focuses on providing students with comprehensive lessons and exercises that cover a wide range of Japanese proficiency levels from N5 to N2. Each lesson in the textbook is designed to introduce new vocabulary, grammar structures, and usage in real-life situations. The lessons are presented in a clear and easy-to-understand format, making them accessible for learners of all levels. The two book system isn't "bad," necessarily. Studying with the main, all-Japanese textbook will force you to figure things out through context and use your brain a little more.
