About this deal

That's not to say that there are not highlights here There are some standout scenes which are excellently done, and Luther is portrayed as a likeable but conflicted character. Angels of Caliban continues the trend of reinvigorating the Horus Heresy by wrapping up story arcs and progressing characters and Legions in a satisfying way. These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. I love how Curze is able to seed so much doubt whenever he interacts with his brothers — he knows just how to needle them, to poke their existing fears and concerns.

The chronicling of the Horus Heresy began over ten years ago, with currently 54 books in total, not counting The Primarchs series or the various short stories. The last full novel we had gotten for the Dark Angels was Fallen Angels by Mike Lee several years ago. Whilst the reasons for Luther's secession from the Imperium and his motives are made quite clear, it did appear that I had missed quite a lot of events, many characters had experienced things that I don't think I have yet read. In fact, that prologue was an excellent way to set the scene which filled in blanks and made new connections for the future, and set the Lion's and Luther's relationship front and center.Descent of Angels and Fallen Angels by Mitchell Scanlon and Mike Lee respectively didn't really do the First Legion any justice and are among the more poorly received entries in the series.

There’s still plenty of unanswered questions regarding Luther and co, but the motives of the three key players on Caliban are becoming increasingly clear. After the two spoke, Horus announced that Lion El'Jonson was joining them before the primarch entered, which bothered Luther greatly. A swirling vortex of warp power was created around Caliban and it eventually broke apart, being pulled into the warp.As mentioned earlier Lion El’Jonson really can be a bully and while I can’t agree with his methods I find it easy to appreciate him as a character. In one moment he will encourage one of his officers to disagree and speak plainly, the next he will grow furious about it. Don’t worry, I won’t count all the ways, because I could fill a two-hour podcast with my love for this book.
