About this deal

Of the 94 products, we discovered that 56 were more expensive and 32 were cheaper than Henry HVR 160-11 Bagged Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner. Prices from Henry Genuine Numatic HepaFlo bags are great - they’re cheap, readily available even in places like supermarkets, have a massive capacity and offer good filtration thanks to their fabric construction. We’d recommend using them at all times. Older Henry vacuums could be run without a bag, simply relying on the filter to protect the motor - but Numatic doesn’t recommend this any more and neither do we.

Henry doesn’t really have a handle, let alone a posh comfy padded handle. You can kind of hold the wand anywhere that feels comfortable to you depending on the task at hand. And I found it comfortable to use no matter what I was vacuuming. Similarly, the wand isn’t telescopic, but you can remove sections to make it shorter and it has a great reach under furniture. The 6-litre capacity of Henry HVR 160-11 is large enough for most domestic uses but if you're dealing with a particularly large space or just need a large capacity cleaner then the 9L Henry Xtra may be a better fit. The Henry HVR 160-11 can not be used for wet vacuuming. If cleaning up spills is your priority then you should take a look at either the Henry George, Henry Wash or Charles hoovers. The dusting tool made it easy to remove the DIY dust from a bookcase and the crevice tool got into the hard to reach spots. Going into it I thought I might miss having adjustable suction when using the hand tools, but I actually didn’t. It’s something to keep in mind though when considering a Henry. The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, Henry.

Can I use Henry without bags?

It’s all too often that we get carried away when shopping and find ourselves buying a fantastic product, but probably actually overdelivers on what we need and therefore costs a lot more than we should have spent. So spend a bit of time looking around at the sort of price you can expect to pay for products in the Vacuum cleaners category and use that alongside your own financial situation to set yourself a budget. The three wands can be arranged in any way you like, with the bent end positioned at any stage. This gives Henry plenty of versatility for cleaning high or low as needed. A wet-and-dry version of the Henry, known as the George, features in our roundup of the best carpet cleaners. Next up is material. The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Vacuum cleaners category, of which we found 94 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options. The Henry Vacuum Cleaner brings professional and versatile cleaning to all situations. With over 10 million Henrys made, and most still in use today, he really is the vacuum you can trust. Henry's great features make cleaning easy, including his super long-reach, trouble free rewind 10 metre cable, huge capacity and on-board tool storage. Carpets, hard-floors, cars, stairs, DIY... nothing beats a Henry for versatility. So much more than just a smiley face. Part of the reason for this power is that Henry doesn’t have any motorised tools for agitating dirt. Instead, it relies on good old-fashioned suction power to pull dirt out of carpets and off hard floors. More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review.

Henry’s an icon for a reason - the vacuum will stand up to a lifetime of abuse and keep that cheery grin while never losing his appetite for dirt and dust. Thankfully Henry is as easy to learn how to clean as he is to use. The six litre dust bag should last several weeks, and when it does need emptying, it’s a doddle. Simply unclip the two side clips and lift off the top, then remove the large filter. The bag slides off the nozzle and has a built-in stopper that can be closed to stop dust leaking out while you take it over to the bin. Price is another really important factor for analysing the quality of Henry HVR 160-11 Bagged Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner vs other products in the Vacuum cleaners category. It’s obvious, but you will need to set your expectations of quality based on your budget and the price of the product you’re looking at, against the price of alternatives. The Henry vacuum accessories are pretty versatile. The three extension pieces can be configured in a variety of ways to give you plenty of reach, or you can attach small tools directly to the hose if you’re cleaning in a tight area like the car. The conical hose is an advantage, too - it gets wider as it approaches the machine, minimising the potential for clogs.Includes mattress nozzle, crevice nozzle, upholstery nozzle, dusting brush, combination floor nozzle. Those dealing with pet hair regularly will likely appreciate the pet-specific and odour reducing features of the Henry Pet. As you’ll probably know, Henry doesn’t have a selection of power levels to choose from or any other fancy features - arguably that’s part of his charm. But at the top the wand there is a twistable air flow regulator so that you can reduce suction when required. What’s it like to use The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand.
