Woodward, Aylin (July 10, 2020). "The 'Jurassic Park' franchise got many dinosaurs wrong. The venomous Dilophosaurus was actually 20 feet long and poison-free". Business Insider . Retrieved September 28, 2020. A scene in the first film depicts the T. rex chasing a Jeep. [10] [36] Animator Steve Williams said he decided to "throw physics out the window and create a T. rex that moved at sixty miles per hour even though its hollow bones would have busted if it ran that fast". [37] In the film, it is stated that the T. rex has been recorded running as fast as 32 miles per hour, [38] although scientists believe that its actual top speed would have ranged from 12 to 25 miles per hour. [38] [39] [40] In the novel and its film adaptation, it is stated that the T. rex has vision based on movement, but later studies indicate that the dinosaur had binocular vision, like a bird of prey. Previous studies have suggested that it went through a growth spurt in its teenage years, but until recently, scientists didn’t know much about how it grew from a hatchling to a powerful predator. Jurassic World Dominion': How 'Jurassic Park' stars, new 'Dominion' dinosaurs wrap up trilogy with a bang

Speaking about Dominion, Trevorrow described the Cretaceous fight as an origin story for the T. rex "in the way we might get to do in a superhero film. The T-Rex is a superhero for me". [28] Regarding its death to the Giganotosaurus, Trevorrow called it "such a horrifying loss for all of us who grew up with the T. rex. To build this into something that feels like a revenge picture that takes place over 65 million years was one of my favorite ideas that we had". [29] At the end of Dominion, the T. rex encounters two other tyrannosaurs, which Trevorrow confirmed as the same duo featured in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). [30] Trevorrow said he wanted to "really make the audience want her to find peace. We want her to find a home. She feels like she has been constantly displaced, time and time again. For her to find a family and sense of belonging is what I want". [31] Marit, Bo. [Bo_Frontier]. (August 16, 2018). Important News about Dinosaur Sizes [Online forum post]. Reddit. The animal has a reduced role compared with the original film, appearing primarily at the end to battle the escaped Indominus rex; it succeeds with help from a Mosasaurus and a Velociraptor named Blue. Isla Nublar is abandoned by the end of the film, leaving the T. rex and other dinosaurs to reclaim the island.

In The Lost World, the Tyrannosaurus are shown to be a very protective parents. They go to great lengths to ensure their offspring’s safety and will drive out anything that is in their territory. It’s said in the film that they don’t wonder too far away from the infant and continue to bring it food for months. This is similar to birds and crocodiles who guard their nests and protect their eggs from predators. Like most predators, The Tyrannosaurus teaches its offspring to hunt once they are capable. Rexy may be the first dinosaur to obtain the "anti-hero" label (second being Blue, third Bumpy, fourth Big Eatie, and fifth Stiggy). Later, Dr. Grant and the children are on a raft on the river, they see the juvenile sleeping. Lex inadvertently wakes it up and it swims after them but soon gives up and goes after the adult’s kill on the shore. Muldoon later shoots it with a tranquilizer dart which causes the creature to pass out with Grant and the children hiding behind a waterfall. It’s unknown what happened to the adult Tyrannosaurus though it’s possible it drowned.” A common fan theory is that Rexy, Doe and Big Eatie are siblings/sisters and are all born in Isla Sorna. This also means Junior and Little Eatie are cousins. Therefore, the three female tyrannosaurs would also be the aforementioned young tyrannosaurs' aunts.

The Lost World

A male Tyrannosaurus rex emerged while feeding on a Parasaurolophus carcass and encounters the humans. It chases them and fights a Spinosaurus, and loses the battle. In the original Jurassic Park novel, there were two Tyrannosaurus on Isla Nublar, an adult and a juvenile version but they didn’t have kind of interaction with each other. It is said that the dinosaurs had sensitive skin so they always tried to stay within the shade. When the park’s power goes offline, the Tyrannosaurus escape from their enclosure. The adult almost killed Ian Malcolm and Tim while the juvenile killed Ed Regis. It’s also claimed that the juvenile is a great swimmer but this most likely wasn’t true in real life. It’s unknown what happened to the adult Tyrannosaurus though it’s possible it drowned. When the group leaves the island via the helicopter, they take one last look at the juvenile. Hey, @colintrevorrow… ya made the Rex look weak. Again. Come on now! It’s the face of the franchise. Terrible. The Giga might have been strong, but science proves the Rex was a better predator, and stronger. Very disappointed in your utilization of Rexy. #JurassicWorldDominion,” read Rosario’s post.

Infamous for being called the king of the dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus had a bite force of almost 6,000 kg of pressure, giving it arguably the strongest jaws ever seen amongst terrestrial carnivores with only extremely large crocodilians (i.e. Deinosuchus) and marine predators, such as the Mosasaurus and the Megalodon, have rivaled or surpassed it in sheer bite force. Large individuals could reach lengths of 43 feet and grow to 13 feet tall, with the average still being a respectably huge 40 feet long and 12 feet tall. However, new research estimates that Tyrannosaurus may have grown bigger than previously thought. Its teeth are actually blunt and relied more on the bite force than a serrated edge like other theropods. This was an adaptation to crush bones and bite through body armor, allowing adult Tyrannosaurus to both bring down armored prey such as ankylosaurids and ceratopsians, as well as process a carcass efficiently by crunching bones and tougher tissues to eat. There’s a lot of debate about whether or not a Tyrannosaurs’ vision is truly based on movement. In Jurassic Park, Dr. Alan Grant says that the sight of the Tyrannosaurus rex is based on movement so if you don’t move, it can’t see you. This idea is referenced in both the first and third films. This is supported by the fact that the T-Rex always gives a huge roar causing its prey to run away. On the other hand, in The Lost World novel, Dr. Richard Levine says this concept is unlikely because many animals freeze or play dead when they are scared and thus, the T-Rex would frequently miss its prey. During the Late Cretaceous period, a feathered Tyrannosaurus fought a Giganotosaurus, but was swiftly killed in the battle. Immediately after its death, a mosquito fed off the body's blood, which would later be used in InGen's cloning of the species. John Hammond informs the visitors about the Tyrannosaurus soon after their arrival. When the group take a tour of the park in the Ford Explorers, they pass the T-Rex enclosure but it doesn’t make an appearance, even when they try to lure it out with a live goat. Later that night, the park’s power systems go offline and Dr. Grant, Malcolm, Lex, Tim and Gennaro are stranded outside the enclosure.a b Weiss, Josh (August 22, 2022). In Evolution 2, Tyrannosaurus is a highly aggressive species, although they can comfortably coexist with another member of their species in the same enclosure, engaging in social behaviours such as play fighting and sharing food from a carnivore feeder. [9] As apex predators, T. rex can become stressed when denied an opportunity to hunt, and may attempt to escape if these needs are not met. Tyrannosaurus prefer large enclosures with areas of both forest and sand to remain comfortable. Sarmiento, Rafarl (May 19, 2020). "The 10 Best Dinosaurs In The Jurassic Park Franchise, Ranked".
