About this deal

Eau de Toilette or toilet water as it is sometimes called, is a lightly scented cologne that is usually applied directly to the skin after bathing or shaving. It has a high alcohol content and a lower percentage of fragrant oils than those found in ordinary perfume. Also known as aromatic waters, it is most often used in the warmer months of the year. It is the strongest fragrance available. Also known as Extrait de Parfum or pure perfume consists of a 15-40% concentration of perfume essence however concentration is generally between 20% to 30% for most parfums. This means that not only do you need to use less, but also that the fragrance lasts longer, typically for up to 6 to 8 hours, depending on skin type.People with sensitive skin may do better with parfums as they have far less alcohol than other fragrance types and therefore are not as likely to dry out the skin. Although the exact formula for original fragrance has remained a secret for hundreds of years, it is known that eau de cologne contains an alcohol concentration of approximately 2%-5% and essential oils from lemon, orange, bergamot, tangerine, neroli, and grapefruit. Farina inserted wisps of lavender, thyme, rosemary, petitgrain, jasmine, and, for some strange reason, the tang of tobacco. After mixing fruity and mossy tones in Femme, Roudnitska dug further into the hybrid form with Rochas Moustache and Eau d'Hermès. Moustache, composed with his wife Thérèse, joined the fougère with the chypre giving Moustache a ‘missing link' feel. Focussing on the similarities of the two genres, the Roudnitskas placed a lime and bergamot topnote on a soapy base to created a perfume that smells like each of the genres, depending on your angle of approach. Eau Fraiche literally translates into “Perfume Water”. Eau Fraiche not only has the lowest concentration of essential oil, but it is also a water-based perfume contrary to other perfumes that are alcohol-based.

MrsPramm - I found a store a few years ago that would do this for you. Basically you just asked for a particular mixture of scents and they provided the base and the oils and mixed them together. I made a lovely perfume for my mother. Unfortunately, I think they went out of business, but there are still places online where you can do this. The key difference between Eau Fraiche and Eau de Cologne is in the concentration of essential oil. Eau Fraiche contains 1%-3% oil whereas Cologne contains 2%-5% concentration. Eau Fraiche uses water as a base whereas Cologne contains 70%-80% alcohol! Eau Fraiche is designed to be more of a summer fragrance to give you that sense of freshness. It won’t serve as a signature fragrance, but you can use it as a transition between fragrances.

You may wonder if Eau Fraiche has the lowest concentration of perfume, and it doesn’t last as long as some of the other forms of perfume, then, is Eau Fraiche even worth considering? Eau Fraiche, on the contrary, is the most diluted form of perfume. It only contains about 1% to 3% of essential oil. This naturally makes Eau Fraiche less potent than say a Parfum or even an Eau de Parfum! Just as is the case with Eau de Toilette, the cost difference is also visible between the Eau Fraiche and Eau de Parfum versions of the fragrances! Difference between Eau Fraiche and Cologne? It is lighter than EDP, with a 5-15% concentration of the essence. It usually lasts for 2 to 4 hours. It is cheaper than Eau de Parfum and is one of the most popular types of fragrance available.Eau de Toilette is considered by some to be for day wear while Eau de Parfum is considered night wear. A great fragrance from the perfume powerhouse Guerlain! Eau de Guerlain is a classic Eau Fraiche unisex perfume meant for both men and women!

Eau Sauvage by Dior (Best Overall) – If you are looking to experience an amazing perfume with loads of freshness, then I would highly recommend going with this Eau Fraiche perfume option! It is classy and comes with a big brand tag! Eau Fraiche is usually based on a high percentage of natural ingredients than other perfumes. It also contains a lower amount of alcohol (since it is a water-based perfume) and is perfectly suited for hot summer days! Brief History of Eau Fraiche Every once in a while, you may come across the term “Eau Fraiche” mentioned on the fragrance that you are interested in buying. This may make you wonder what exactly does Eau Fraiche mean and how is it different from Eau de Toilette or Eau de Parfum! In general, Eau Fraiche lasts only up to two hours since it has a lowest fragrance concentration of 1% to 3%. However, some Eau Fraiche fragrances can last even as long as 5 to 6 hours depending on their composition. This set the trend for Eau Fraiche perfumes and similar fragrances were later launched by Guerlain, Rochas and Lancome perfume houses! How Long Does Eau Fraiche Last? These topnotes are heartbreakingly lovely. And surprisingly intact, for a 40+ year old cologne concentration. The opening is just like crushing both the leaves and the fruit from a citrus tree in your hands, and then burying your face in them. I don't get a specific citrus, neither lemon nor lime, and there's no herbaceous quality like Eau Sauvage. Additionally, the performance is also quite good. You can get about 3 to 4 hours on this perfume. The perfume opens with citrus-fruity flavored top notes and settles with the floral and woody mid-notes before bringing in the base notes into action. Eau Fraiche, a somewhat ironic name, is another early example of the tendency. The momentum of animalic notes surpasses the delicacy of citric notes. Eau Fraiche bridged the the edc to the chypre, creating a unicorn: the durable cologne. Even in the era of Tonkin and nitro musks, eaux de cologne were fleeting. Combining the edc with a mossy base kept the shape of cologne but gave it longer legs. It combined two historically unisex forms to create a perfume that suited anyone who wore it.

Eau Fraiche is a scented substance worn in a manner similar to perfumes and fragrances. The difference lies in its lower price, which is due to the percentage of essential oils it contains. The highest percentage is found in true perfume, which has about 22%. Eau Fraiche contains about 1 to 3% essential oil, making it the lowest of all available fragrances. In this article, I will answer all the important questions that you may have regarding Eau Fraiche. At the end of the article, I will also share a few different options that you can consider if you feel Eau Fraiche is your choice! Eau Fraiche is also well suited for people who have sensitive skin. Since it is made of natural ingredients, it is less likely to do harm to the skin. Additionally, since Eau Fraiche is water-based, it doesn’t dry your skin (as opposed to alcohol) thereby avoiding any skin irritation.

Eau Sauvage, Diorella and Parfum de Thérèse are all variations on Eau Fraiche's basic accord of flowers, fruit and a mossy base. Eau Sauvage's glistening topnotes, often cited as the first substantial use of hedione, can be found almost in their entirety in Eau Fraiche, created thirteen years earlier.

Eau d'Hermès laid the groundwork for the next logical hybrid, the one that would be the focus of much of his future career, the Chypre/Eau de Cologne hybrid. Eau d'Hermès's leathery, armpit of a drydown was one of Roudnitska's warning shots to the world of perfumery. Fresh is nice, but flesh wins the day. In ancient Rome, perfumes were often used as incense for religious ceremonies and in public areas to mask the putrid odors of city life. Pliny the Elder (23-79 AD) wrote of rose-scented water being sprinkled in theatres. The ancient Greeks believed that wearing a sweet-smelling fragrance was pleasing to the gods. Greek medical thinkers of the day were certain that fragrances improved health and vitality.

Chrisitian Dior later launched Eau Sauvage by Dior in 1966. It was an instant hit among the masses due to its fresh flavor. Even though Eau Sauvage was launched for men, it was particularly liked by women who are said to have often borrowed this perfume from men due to its new aromatic flavors based on freshness!
