at first i was like “ooh this is messy” in a good way bc i was in the mood for drama, but after reading the same conflicts over and over it became mind numbing. If I had to describe what it's about, I'd say Evie is a Phoenix and she ( with lots of work ) comes back strong and confident. I should get paid for putting up to reading 400pgs of this and how I’m emotionally scarred from anger. And Evie "dating" another man while married to Declan, even though she says several times how she feels nothing for this other man, made me not care very much for her character.
My favourite part was the way Declan just couldn’t get over everly wearing wes’s jersey and demanded she take it off throughout the book.The reader is immediately drawn into the most recent work of fiction by Shain Rose, which is about an unhappy marriage that was arranged for practical reasons. She was rejected by her father, hurt by her ex and now married to a man she is sure didn't really want her. I did crave a little bit more bite on the Andy storyline, but a trash character deserves a trash plot line so I get it.
Perhaps it’s because I couldn’t get past their personality flaws, but their relationship is very surface-level. i hate to say this bc i loved corrupted chaos by this author but this book was so bad 😭 i was expecting so much more. I realized she didn’t belong to me, I belonged to her… she held my sanity, my control, my power, my heart in her hands. Everly doesn't want to be in the spotlight at all and Declan is a retired NFL player and his whole life is publicised by the media and his fame.I’m all about being inspired by another’s work, but at some point, you can become so obsessed that it seeps into your own. One thing that I will say without any spoilers is that this marriage of convenience does not go down like most other books with that trope.
If you love marriage of continence with a whole lot of spice and have a praise kink then this is a book for you! I feel like I have whiplash from the constant back and forth, the relationship is tedious, and I honestly don't care what happens to either character. There appears to be a thin line separating loyalty and betrayal, and as more circumstances come to light, we are unable to determine exactly where that line is located.She should've atleast grown a spine and fought for her right especially when she knew that those bitches were so horrible. This is done so that Declan can keep his companies and Everly can keep something that is very important to her. I was able to read it in almost one sitting, yet given the quality, I’m not sure if it was out of boredom or intrigue.
