About this deal

David is overcome by a terrible headache until finally blood gushes from one of his nostrils and a long white worm slithers out of it. Equipped with overalls, masks, oxygen tanks and two-way radios, Brady and Palmer and go down into the sewer via a manhole cover outside the house. In recent years, those working on terrestrial molluscs have expehenced an increasingly frustrating time in the task of identification. They eat most of his hand by the time Harold, assisted by his wife Jean manage to cut it off with shears and a trowel.

These themes are conveyed in a gentle and accessible manner, making it a valuable tool for social-emotional learning. This hilarious read-aloud picture book tells a cautionary tells about a slug who must climb a slippery slope, in spite of the animals who are trying to stop him. This positive message promotes empathy, understanding, and acceptance, making it a valuable lesson for children. The illustrations are bright and colorful and simple, so definitely a good picture book for small kids. Bert Crossley, a butcher on the new housing estate enjoys a lunch time drink with friends Danny and Tony.

The Way Home For Wolf is one of my absolute favourite small children's books so I was really excited to get this one from netgalley. The text demonstrates the alphabetic principle as the letter “s” and its sound are repeated over and over in the title and throughout the book. The guide is also a keystone work that can assist in the study of distributional changes that relate to the spread of invasive species, as well as revealing more about the true range of our established slug fauna.

Bright's words simply jump and skim along through the story with opportunities for the all important 'joining in moments'.The text is full of rhyming words that make is fun to hear aloud, but also offer lots of classroom potential or a great reading experience for a newer reader. Thankfully, in 2014 the publication of a new slug guide should help to resolve many of these issues. The British and Irish slug fauna has changed rapidly over recent years as exotic species join our native wildlife. Slugs make their way through the garden, into the drain, up the drain pipe, along the guttering, down onto a window sill and drop onto the floor of the bedroom.

It really bothered me - I don't know that a kid would be bothered - but the fact that the last line doesn't rhyme. Slugs in the cellar of an old house feed on scraps of rotten meat someone is unknowingly throwing down to them. I usually have quite a soft spot for children's books that are about animals that aren't usually considered cute. Yes, I wouldn’t hug a slug, but I am sure there is someone and I was eager to see who would want to be with Doug.Although it is interesting to see how this story plot works with very realistic artwork, if the illustrations were less so, they could have helped in contextual understanding. This completely new FSC AIDGAP publication, which is the subject of this review, should greatly assist with British and Irish slug identification, at last putting slug biology on a much more certain footing and acting as a 'driver' to encourage further studies of this aspect of our dynamic fauna.
