About this deal

Last but not least: the price of these tripods was VERY surprising. I am just amazed that these tripods are not the most expensive, as they probably ought to be, but the least expensive! That was an unexpected bonus. A four-section alternative to this kit would be the Oben AC-1451 legs and the BA-113 ball head. Oben AC-1351 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-113 Ball Head Slik Pro 700 DX AMT Tripod with 3-Way Pan-and-Tilt Head

So once you factor in these elements, you aren’t left with very much choice in the tripod market. For those reading with a bit more knowledge on the subject you’ll be thinking ‘yeah that’s going to cost you!’. Generally, with the above criteria, you’re looking at the top end of the market and the brands which are geared towards professionals and serious hobbyists. In the mid-market, there’s always a trade-off, for example, you’ll find something that reaches the height you want but it will weigh quite a bit. This was the dilemma I was in but after much research, I eventually decided upon the FLM CP30 L4 II. The Alta Pro 2+ 263AB100 is a tripod kit with a 26mm, three sections Alta Pro 263ATaluminium tripod and Alta BH-100ball head with an independent friction control knob and max pay load of up to 7 kg/15.5 lbs. As with the VEO 3+, the Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ comes with a Multi-Angle Centre Column (MACC). The Vanguard Alta Pro 264AB 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with SBH-100 Ball Headoffers generous height, impressive stability, and light weight alongside a comprehensive list of professional functions – primary among which is the 180° tilting of the center column, which makes a convenient task of macro photography. Tripods are also helpful for disabled photographers; tripods help reduce the weight of heavy lenses and cameras. Photographers that suffer from hand tremors, arthritis, fibromyalgia, hand cramps, repetitive strain injury, dizziness, etc., may benefit more from using a tripod. Finally, there’s an instruction manual that gives you an overview of the tripod features, how to take it apart, how to clean it etc.If you’re looking for a decent portrait tripod, you’ll need to spend a few hundred pounds, if not more. Therefore, the Manfrotto studio tripod Mk2 or the Gitzo GT4543LS systematic series four carbon eXact long tripod is likely your best option for semi-professional and professional studio portraiture photography. Fortunately, the Hydra2 isn’t a beginner’s tripod, and although the design looks pretty basic, it’s built for the adventurous outdoor photographer. The Hydra2 can be used in rough terrains, including fresh and salt water. It’s built to perform and last and won’t let you down.

Like all FML's II series tripods the CP38-L4 II features removable rubber feet and spikes to increased steadiness for your shot. You also have the option of adding a 75 or 100mm video bowl to your tripod; each of these bowls is available separately. In this scenario, it’s always best to conduct a risk assessment before getting tooled up and heading out. Suppose there is a risk of someone tripping and seriously injuring themselves. In that case, it’s probably best to consult with senior event organisers to locate a spot where you can safely use your tripod. I also do astrophotography and photography off of the same tripod(s)...so I can give you some thoughts. Another area where FLM differentiates itselfis the incredible 10 year warranty for both the CP10-A1 legs and the CB-24E head. The closest competitor in this review group stops at 6 years, while most mini tripods only offer 1 year of guarantee against defects after sales. This says a lot about the longevity and durability each manufacturer expects from itsproducts, and FLM offers this generous warranty on all of itsproducts, without exception. The manufacture is nothing short of superb, and the tripod reeks of quality and excellence in every little detail. Every operation is crisp and smooth. The design is elegant and aesthetically pleasing. There is a Zen aspect to the design that has everything you need and nothing more or nothing less. I think FLM has established a new Platinum standard by which other tripods will have to be judged. Tripods are essential for landscape, panorama, product, tech, still life, macro, Astro, flora, storm, architecture, food and drink, special effects, and some styles of portraiture photography. In addition to this, tripods are required for videography, editorial and photojournalism work. Tripods are necessary for time-lapse and self-portrait photography too.

Adjustable: An adjustable tripod is essential for macro, product, flora, and some landscape and wildlife projects at low elevations

Designed for video tripod: 3 Legged Thing Legends Tommy

Using a decent well-built tripod helps to improve your photography skills and overall image quality. A tripod can help slow your shutter speed down during low light photography, thus reducing blur and noise. If there’s any gripe at all, I wish the CP30-L4 was a tad shorter when folded, so it would be easier to travel with as hand-carry luggage. Alternatively, I wish the CP30-S4 had a larger max height. Maybe FLM will come out with a version of the CP30, perhaps with 5-segments, that has the short folding length of the S4 and max height of 58-60”. If they do, I would buy one in a heartbeat. Gitzo has been the first (and sometimes last) word in high-end and heavy-duty tripods for many decades, and their innovations and influence are clearly seen in every other tripod of this type on the market. The GT3543LS exemplifies Gitzo's continual refinement of this type of tripod in fit, finish, form and function. While it may have the slimmest legs and narrowest stance in this group, both of which anecdotally should make it less stable, it comes in a close second for vibration resistance. Our take: The safe, but pricey, bet. Excellent performance with worldwide support That argument has already been made. Honestly, though, it really is quite simple: Leofoto did not copy Gitzo, I never said that. LF made *exact* copies of RRS tripods.

Sometimes the FLM CP34-L4's impressive height is not needed, but the stability of using just the top two sections in some situations is appreciated.Tripods often see use in still life photography or macro photography, where sharpness is essential, and careful composition is paramount. Similarly, those who are well-versed in landscape photography will inform you that a tripod is an essential piece of kit for capturing those golden moments in all their glory. Don’t invalidate the warranty and get it insured: While it’s tempting to make a few modifications here and there or add extra pieces of kit onto the tripod. In doing so, you immediately invalidate the warranty. Furthermore, your insurance won’t cover it. Get it insured, don’t invalidate the contract, and maintain it regularly. Elements: A robust tripod must be waterproof, rustproof, sand and dust resistant, and capable of working well in extreme heat and icy conditions The Steady Shot with Camera VestfromCotton Carrier is a game changer for most amateur and professional photographers. The Steady Shot eliminates the tripod and monopod but still provides stability for professional sports photography jobs.
