About this deal

Looking for non-alcoholic drink options? Try my Homemade Lemon Cordial or Elderflower Cordial recipes. Step Four: If your shaker doesn't have a built-in strainer, put a coiled strainer over the top of your shaker and strain into a chilled martini glass (don't forget to dump the ice out of the glasses first!) Garnish with a piece of fresh passion fruit. Step Three: Fill the shaker up about halfway with ice, put on the lid and shake for at least 30 seconds to ensure a proper mix. The Boston Shaker: Is made up of a metal tin and glass cup, it doesn't have a built-in strainer. It's the shaker you'll usually see in bars and the professional's choice.

You can replace the pineapple juice with passion fruit purée if you can find it. Either will help to create the frothy topping.Combine and mix only the syrup, lime juice, apple juice, and vanilla essence but not the passionfruit seeds, to avoid them sink to the bottom of your jug. If you plan on making several Pornstar Martinis, we recommend buying pre-batched passionfruit purees.

It’s meant to be drunk by first eating the passionfruit garnish, then drinking the shot of sparkling wine and finally finishing it up by sipping at the pornstar martini. Variations You can substitute fresh passion fruit with a puree such as Funkin Pro. Any leftovers can be stored in the pouch in the freezer or squeezed into an ice cube tray for convenience. The mix of theatre (in the serving of two separate drinks) and the eye-catching name shows why it’s such a hit. Just don’t ask us what to do with the fizz! Pour the blended mixture through a strainer, using a spoon to push as much pulp through and leave the broken seeds behind. Add this pulp to your cup. Also adding layers of complexity to the drink, Adam Fournier’s Born A Star Martini splits the fruit element between passion fruit and mamey sapote (melonlike in flavor and texture) and finishes the drink with a mist of vanilla-infused sherry. The addition of mamey “felt uniquely Southern Californian,” according to Los Angeles–based Fournier, who had received frequent requests from international guests for Pornstar Martinis. “The mamey lends a wonderful texture and weight to the passion fruit, while still staying tropical and bright,” he says.

The Pornstar Martini was an instant success when it came to the market in 2003 and since then it’s inspired many tasty variations. For example, the Born A Star Martini adds a Southern California touch. This is thanks to the inclusion of mamey sapote, a melon-like fruit in flavour and texture.

Scoop the pulp into a fine strainer placed over a cup. Use a spoon or spatula to squeeze out the juice from the seeds. If you still see some pulp on the seeds, pour the seeds into a blender with a bit of water and pulse a few times. Don’t overdo it, or you might grind the seeds completely. Remember, this is a when-the-air-hits type of drink! It's so deliciously cold and sweet and the passion fruit is so intense and enticingly flavoured that it can go down a little too easily. Unlike the Classic Martini, the Pornstar is a Martini in name (and glass) only. Served with a Prosecco sidecar, it’s not your typical martini experience. So how do you drink it?

To make a frozen variation, blend the mix with a scoop of crushed ice. Serve alongside a shot of sparkling wine and with the same passionfruit garnish. Don’t mix the batch with ice and don’t leave it with ice overnight as it will dilute the flavours. Keep it in the fridge so it’s cold when you serve and shake it each time before serving to preserve taste.
