About this deal

This robot requires building from scratch so I thought this was something my daughter might enjoy doing with her dad. With the REAL TIME function the child can remotely control Mio Robot through a smartphone or tablet as if he were using a remote control. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). When i try to connect to it on bluetooth, it dosent show up, the high pitched noises gave me a headache and that isnt an exhaduration, and it cant even turn off properly, its on OFF but still making noise.

With lots of electronic components and a free app, Mio Robot will allow you to discover the fun worlds of robotics and electronics. The child can have fun assembling and programming it thanks to 5 play modes (3 offline and 2 via the app). You can use the microphone to command it by simply clapping your hands, while the push-button panel on the robot’s back can be used to programme its route.

Kids feel like real engineers as they snap together the parts to build an amazing programmable, controllable, sensor-equipped robot. It sparks curiosity, encourages problem-solving skills, and nurtures a passion for science and technology. The app’s graphics are designed for being user friendly and for being used without any difficulty and intuitively by children older than 8 years. The detailed illustrated manual will guide you through every step of the assembly and programming phases.

Mio, the Robot is the perfect tool to introduce you to the world of robotics and programming in an easy and fun way. The app communicates with the robot thanks to high-frequency sounds which are associated with commands. Yet to try the programming side of it, but again can’t imagine it would be hard to understand given the robot can just simply turn left or right, again without the mentioned complication above.

Endless possibilities: The Mio robot kit offers endless possibilities, allowing you to assemble and program your own real robot while unleashing your creativity and inventing thrilling challenges. I think kids with a specific interest of science or building with electrical parts would particularly benefit from a gift like this. The recommended age is for eight years plus but I think this is something more suited as a family activity and she thoroughly enjoyed building this with her dad. The manual contains a lot of information on electronics and scientific terms, to become a true expert in robotics. In addition, thanks to its large range of interchangeable components in the set, you can turn it to your liking.Tobbie the Robot has 6 legs, IR sensor and a dual gearbox, when he is assembled, he has two interactive modes – follow Me and Explore, with fun sounds and light effects. The inability to turn left or right without it spinning completely around (without touching forward or back at precisely the right time) is slightly annoying on the app based play. Friend, teacher, and source of possibilities: Mio is more than just a robot; it's a friend, a teacher, and a source of endless possibilities.

There’s 2 small cables for the microphone and led eyes that come out of the head, both are the same colour.Other offline functions include Follow Me/Escape using infrared sensors to follow hand motions and also a clapping mode – yes!
