I think this book would have benefitted from being longer; as it is it just felt rushed and the development from fake friends to friends to lovers was kind of nonexistent. But while he looks like he could spread some epic Faery King wings and whisk me off across the night sky to his palace, he is not one of my fantasy romance heroes.I have a long history of truly terrible sins, but mentally debauching my best friend's baby sister while watching her strip off her panties just might take the cake. Now that I'm experiencing firsthand what a jerk Sebastian can be, I'm wondering if Ren sees in his teammate what he wants to more than what's actually there. I'm tired of it, and I'm sick to my stomach, thinking about what this perception, if it sticks, could cost me-what it already threatened to cost me, but for Coach Mal ignoring Bridget's warnings and putting me on the team anyway.

Again, on any other day, I would probably throw up my hands and walk off, enjoy bursting Ren's idyllic bubble by telling him that I'd appreciate it if he asked his best friend to cough up my panties the next time he sees him. Also we’re the same age (I think) and I know this probably won’t come out until 2023 maybe later but I’m so so excited. Any other day, I'd probably stand here, tongue-tied, stunned that Sebastian's acknowledged my existence. At 22 year old, Sigrid wanted to be seen as she was, a woman, so a brillant idea bloomed into her head and to dissolve from the personage she was reflecting, Ziggy wanted to fake a friendship with her brother’s best friend, Sebastian, who is a famous hockey player well known for his bad-boy aura and auto-destructive persona.

This is only my third Chloe Liese book (and second Bergman brothers), but I know by now that I love her stories so freaking much. Ziggy dealt with her own demons throughout the storyline and her character gained little by little the confidence and affirmation she was seeking for to affirme herself between her family and soccer team. He is someone who-according to a lot of deeply damning and corroborated news headlines-breaks not just promises and property but hopes and hearts.My hockey career and sponsorships are in jeopardy, so when Ziggy Bergman proposes a public "friendship" to rehab my image, it's an offer that even a self-respecting reprobate like myself can't refuse. I loved the vulnerability they both had and how they worked on themselves before they became a couple. Before someone can rope me into it, I scamper away across the sand, sandals hooked on my fingers, making a beeline for the elegant venue that boasts grand doors opened wide to the sights and sounds of the beach, the dwindling light mingling with ivory candles and floral centerpieces. I also appreciated the way the undiagnosed autoimmune disease storyline was written, and loved seeing how he began to thrive once he was no longer self-medicating.

I want to soak up and breathe in whatever’s inside this woman that charges the air and makes my atrophied, frozen heart want to grow and warm and heal and fill with things it hasn’t in so long. Those made-up worlds contain some of the most tender, scary, beautiful human truths, navigated in the safety of imagination, whose wisdom and hopes I take with me bravely into my own life. The ending felt rushed and so, so short after reading chapter after chapter of them painstakingly making their way to one another. Both of them thought they weren’t enough to bloom the friendship into more and it honestly wasn’t an annoying redundancy thought or aspect of their story because the characters development was tightly mangled to it and was to say the least, perfectly pulled.I think about the glorious tangerine sun glowing on the horizon, the luscious sea breeze that's kept me cool this afternoon, despite the heat weaving through our whole chaotic Bergman brood-my parents, six siblings, their partners, and my niece and nephew. I had the same issue with Axel and Rooney’s book, but having loving it overall it didn’t bother me much but with this one it did. Complete with an absurd level of mutual pining, meddling family and friends, and a spicy slow burn, this standalone is the sixth in a series of novels about a Swedish-American family of five brothers, two sisters, and their wild adventures as they each find happily ever after. At least, it was, until what began as a transactional arrangement became the most loving relationship I’ve ever known. She is truly talented and has a way with her words that touches the soul of a reader and oh my gosh i loved this book so much, the slow burn, the intensity and seb in his entirety is all perfection.
