About this deal

Within those parameters, it’s still a great desk fan. It’s noisy at its highest settings, putting out nearly 60dB at full tilt, but at lower levels it’s fine for daytime use. The Meaco and Dimplex fans will dish out more airflow, but the Q will easily cool an area of a room and you can happily leave it on low if you’re sitting nearby. What’s more, the removable grille makes it easy to clean the fan and keep it in top-notch condition. If all you care about is function, you can save some cash by buying something else – but if form and style matter more in your home, the Q is the designer fan to get. The motor technology in desk fans has really moved on over the years and you can get a decent cooling airflow with fairly low noise levels from the smaller desk fans (as opposed to larger pedestal or tower fans). That said, the slightly larger models are a little more efficient at blasting out air. Will a desk fan cool a room? Unfortunately, there is also one more downside to this bargain buy... and that's that the Honeywell Turbo Force Power Fan is noisy.

Best desk fan 2023: Keep your cool as the temperature rises

It might not have many frills or a stylish design, but it’s very efficient at cooling your room down, which is essentially what you want from a desk fan. It’s only 18cm in width so it sits neatly on your desk or table and it’s easy to operate with two speed settings. The adjustable tilt feature means you can position the incoming breeze to best suit your needs. However, considering its price point, these are small gripes, and nothing we couldn't forgive for the Honeywell Turbo Force Power Fan's budget price tag. Having tested other, more expensive fans, that offer oscillating or 'natural wind' modes that vary the airflow to create a more natural breeze, the other caveat we'd add is that sitting in front of a fan blowing air full force at you for a prolonged period of time can become a little tiring. A little variation turns out to be a very good thing. This is useful if you don't want the air current pointed directly at you, but doesn't move the air around the room in the same way that an oscillating fan achieves, as it doesn't constantly vary the airflow direction. When it wasn't pointed directly at us, we also found it harder to feel any real cooling effect from the airflow. The 3 speed Honeywell HT-900 TurboForce Air Circulator provides a quiet and efficient means of cooling a surrounding area. The HT-900 is 25% quieter than its competitors and represents a superior selection for those seeking a relatively noiseless experience when it comes to emitting large amounts of cool air. An adjustable fan head is fully capable of pivoting and reaching a 90° angle that can be used for direct cooling or circulating the air. Maximum air distribution is achieved via the inclusion of an Aerodynamic Turbo Design. This fan's small size and efficient output opens a wealth of installation options in the home, office or dorm setting. The availability of three selectable speeds carries the added bonus of potentially reducing energy expenses. The TurboForce Air Circulator Fan can be used for personal or powerful directional cooling. Honeywell QuietSet Oscillating Table Fan (Easy to Use, 4

When you're focusing on work, be it at home or in the office, the last thing you need is a loud whirring noise distracting you. That's where the Duux Globe Table Fan comes in; operating at just 13dB on the low settings, it's impressively quiet. As you speed up the fan, it will understandably be louder, but at 42dB on the highest setting, it's still pretty quiet in comparison to other fans, earning it a coveted 'Quiet Mark' award. The fan that swings it for us is the MeacoFan 650 Desk Fan which comes with great features and design for an affordable price. It’s hard to beat that winning combination. How we chose our recommendations Desk fans are capable of cooling smaller rooms. Those with higher speed settings will have more punch. But for larger rooms, you need a pedestal fan or even a portable air conditioner to beat the heat. How long can you leave a desk fan on? This guide was updated by MNHQ on 28th June 2023 to ensure all information and products are up to date and accurate. For some, its budget price tag will be worth putting up with the increased noise levels, for others the investment in a quieter fan, like the MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator or Duux Whisper Flex Ultimate Fan will be worth its weight in gold.

Size: ‎38 x 28 x 28cm | Weight: 3.4kg | Oscillation angle: 90˚| Cord length: 2m | Warranty: Two years | Noise level: ‎‎13 to 42dB | Power: 14 watts Our verdict The summer might come late or when you least expect it but, when it does, those soaring temperatures aren’t always a blessing. It’s no picnic trying to get work done when the heat is stifling, while humid, muggy rooms can make it hard to rest or relax. A fan is the obvious answer. If you’re looking to keep a particular room nice and breezy, a tower fan might be the best choice. However, if you’re looking for something to cool you down while you’re sitting at your desk, working in the kitchen, are slumped on the sofa or trying to grab some shuteye, a desk fan is the fan for you. We also love the remote – it's a doddle to control, and means you won't have to get up to turn it off if you're using it from bed before you go to sleep. On the other hand, it's one of the heaviest fans on our list, so it's not the best for portability, but the 2m power cord is a decent length for flexibility.
