Angela had left it anonymously in a colleague’s mailbox, but an incriminating fingerprint on one of the photos stapled inside leads them to her. As she’s brought in for questioning, things look bleak. The book contains the thoughts of a seasoned serial killer who relishes describing their crimes in detail, down to the map reference of where the bodies were buried. These books are not for the squeamish, they are graphic and violent and the killers are sadistic and twisted. This one did make my stomach churn as I was reading some of the murder scenes. But I seriously loved it and I cannot recommend this book and series more. But don't don't say that I didn't warn you about the content!!

If I have any quibbles on the plot it is probably the Detective Garcia character who I thought was weak being used mostly as someone for Hunter to explain things to, even when he does reach his own conclusion we are usually reminded that Hunter had got there before him . . . as if we didn't already know. Garcia needs to be pepped up with more of his own personality rather than just being a prop for Hunter. Coerced into making a disturbing choice, Hunter sits through and watches as an unidentified victim is tortured and murdered live on live stream.

Soon, there is the discovery of another body. The methods and signature of the murder differs, but the level of violence used suggests that the same person is behind both crimes. Hunter’s fears are confirmed when a second part of the poem is found. My usual pragmatic self was somewhat surprised the detectives didn’t race through the book trying to find and identify the sixteen or so victims, but guess that would have been a tad laborious for we readers. Every character, every conversation, every detail is inane and states the obvious, and a lot of the paragraphs about Detective Hunter are copied and pasted from previous books (his history, education, job, sleep, whiskey etc). The dim-witted Angela Wood. She had read the book and knew what the killer is capable of, but [ all she wanted to was stream music from internet. oh Really ! I didn't feel any sympathy for her. Why was Hunter even feeling guilty for not having kept her safe. I wished she suffered for her actions, but unfortunately she came out relatively unscathed. I thought there was a twist here, where Angela would turn out to be the killer's accomplice (why else would she connect to the internet, when she was specifically asked not to ) Then i thought she would redeem herself by helping Hunter. Instead he was begging for her life. Which is where Angela makes a dreadful mistake. Across the way, she observes a lone man who has all his attention on his phone – that is, until an elderly man asks to put his drink on the phone obsessive’s table and is very rudely rebuked. Angela decides to teach the ill-mannered man a lesson and hooks his bag from under the table before she disappears. What she finds inside the bag is about to change her life, and not for the good. It’s a leather bound diary, and its contents have Angela reeling. What has she done?

The stupid murderer who carries the murder book with him, and quite careless with this damning evidence. In the end when the killer had Hunter at gunpoint, yet went on confessing, I almost expected Hunter to say. 'It is not too late, Voldemort, feel some remorse and save your soul'.You know how on a TV series where something changes and they suddenly have two characters who never interact try and build a strong friendship in one episode to change the course of the show, and how forced it is? What is even more disturbing is that, with such a setting, nobody is safe anymore. Before, it were certain main target audiences that got the most attention and deadly love by serial killers, but by imagining such a scenario, everyone could be a coincidental kill. Hope that the voices don´t have too specific wishes. But this discovery does more than just link the two killings. It suggests that this is the work of a serial murderer. Written in Blood will leave you holding your breath whilst waiting to find out more. With detailed descriptions of bizarre murders, no two are the same, it is an addictive read and excellent addition to the Robert Hunter series. The only small negative for me was that some things were over-explained with not every comment needing an explanation.

Its like a parody of police investigation books, a very dumbed down version of a murder series, and as if a 5 year old had been asked to write down a conversation he thinks an adult might have. A journal ends up on Robert Hunter’s desk. It soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose. The mysterious caller however doesn't want Hunter to just watch, but rather participate in an act where refusing is not an option. Release date for this book is 23rd July 2020 and I 100% recommend going and getting yourself a copy.When will the bad guys learn that they have to kill the hero when they get the opportunity, and not start baring their souls. And that´s just the industrial world, imagine what must go in in the Southern hemisphere or in the areas of Europe and North America that are under control by organized crime. If one single person with special skills, talent, and motivation could do it, what could the criminal franchise equivalent of a megacorporation conglomerate do, let´s say a cooperation of Asian, Russian, and European crime syndicates that don´t fight, but work together and help each other? The writing was mediocre. The number of times he used the idiom 'The penny dropped!'. That is a really nice phrase, but you don't have to use it so many times.
